I've thought about reviewing this for a long time. Unfortunately for some odd reason I just felt like putting this off longer than I should have. Zad, you intrigued me to give this a good listen. I know it will be noting like the classic Transilvanian Hunger....but I always keep an open mind.

This would surely be the most generous treatment of an album in the history of the human race. I would sooner be exposed to raw sewerage then this album. I was not expecting a black metal album from Darkthrone because they aren't that band anymore, but this, this is the best Darkthrone can come up with? Calling this album second-rate speed metal worship is unfair because even the laziest retro speed metal band can create a cheap clone of the by-gone days of their idols with something which would pass as competence. What astonishes me isn't that the record label released this upon the world because lets face it the moronic Darkthrone fanboys will ensure this album sells before blogging about how unfair all the criticism of "the best black metal band ever, all other black metal is insignificant compared to this band" I'm astonished that when this piece of aurul dysentry was played back to the band they actually thought it sounded good. Exactly what they were taking to cause such a hallucination baffles the mind but whatever it was I want some of that. 10/100 on the premise that maybe if I get really, really, reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaally drunk one note on this album may not make me wish all life on Earth would be immediately terminated.

Don't get your panties in a bunch. Shit is decent. Much better than the recent output of Darkthrone in my opinion. Their non-black metal stuff works when it's fun and this is a blast. Maybe if you actually were able to point out why it's bad, besides it being made of sewerage, we could have a discussion.

I did trapt, as I said in my mini-review even the worst retro speed/heavy metal bands I've had the displeasure of hearing are able to competently clone their idols albeit below par. You've heard it before and it's boring but you can put up with it until something better comes on. This offering from Darkthrone doesn't have any of that in it the riffs are not just boring or I could excuse this album they are lazy to the point it becomes frustrating. I can not stand lazy musicianship. Couple that with the vocals which are grating at best and this album is just worthless. Mind you it actually is better then some of the albums which preceded it but that isn't much of a compliment.

Think this is a matter of taste, ultimately, but I just don't agree that the riffs are boring or that the vocals grate.

Listening to this album on 'tube. Pretty good for what it is. It's refreshing to hear one of evilest band in existence coming to the light.
