Surprise of the month

The first Darkseed album called "Spellcraft" was a great "trashy" album with a nice aggressive voice. On their second release ("Give Me Light"), they changed their style to gothic metal. We didn't know what to expect with this one.

On the first song, "Forever Darkness", I really appreciate the mix of dark voice (we are back into "Spellcraft" album) and clear ones ("Give Me Light"). But apart from this Paradise Lost sound & music (copy cat ?), there is another band that I try to recognize. Second song is an absolute killer one, the chorus stays in your mind forever, aggressive gothic hymn, and it confirms my first impression ; they added another type of music. But which one ? Let's go to the third one "Counting Moments" and immediately this time I got it : Depeche Mode's music style (much more aggressive of course). We cannot compare it to Paradise Lost's "Host", but the Depeche Mode's "touch" is definitively here. This album is an ENOURMOUS surprise.

After "Give Me Light", I was sure that Darkseed was dead. I was wrong and they prove with "Diving Into Darkness" that gothic metal is a wonderful type of metal, especially with such quality song-writing.

Suprise of the Month ? No doubt about it my friends. But it is a Paradise Lost's album !!! So what ? Since 30 years in metal almost everybody are influenced by others. Songs are marvelous from the first track to the last one and only that counts for me. For all fans of gothic metal music, don't miss this one.
