Wildest Dreams is the first single to be released from the forthcoming Dance Of Death album due out this week. I remember reading the studio reports during the recording and mixing of this album from earlier this year and how producer Kevin Shirley kept talking about the new album having more of a live feel to it than any other album the band has done before. Apparently, much of the new album was recorded with all band members playing and once a solid backing track was put to tape, the process of adding solos and vocal harmonies was then put to task.

Wildest Dreams certainly has this "live" and loose feel to it with Nicko counting the band in before launching into a very up-tempo track. The song is a great driving one and very similar to The Wicker Man, the lead-off single from the Brave New World album in tempo and feel, but falls a bit short in comparison. Also included with the package is a track called Pass The Jam which sounds like a work-in-progress session that the band had in the studio, just jamming and playing around with some riffs. The band eventually all clicks together and Bruce adds some vocals. The track seems to go on and on and at one point, you even hear Bruce pleading for the others to stop and threatening to leave if they don't!! An amusing track that is probably something that they were working on but just couldn't quite get a song out of it. The third track included here is an orchestral version of Blood Brothers from the Brave New World album. It's an interesting slant on an already great song and presents it in a different light.

Wildest Dreams is also available as a DVD single with the video for the song and different remixes of The Nomad and Blood Brothers, both from the Brave New World album. Also available is a 7 inch green vinyl version with Wildest Dreams and Pass The Jam.

The new album should be out this week in most parts of the world, but if it's not and you can find this CD single, it should give you your long awaited fix for some new Maiden......bring on the Dance Of Death!!!!
