This last album definitely confirms that Grave Digger are back on track.
Knights Of The Cross was already impressive but this one puts
the bet higher ! Without any doubt it's the best Grave Digger album
ever ! From track one through track twelve you get pieces of the Excalibur
legend, the round table, Lancelot, Mordred,... and all the other characters.
This album needs the listener's full attention, especially during first
listens... frankly I first listened to it twice and put it away for
more than a month... what a mistake ! The fifth time your ears go through
this masterpiece you'll be on for a big surprise. The music is very
square, aggressive riffs and strong vocals like Grave Digger are used
to deliver. Again, Chris Boltendahl puts a deadly atmosphere with his
voice. Choirs on chorus are great and makes the songs more accessible
to my opinion (anyway I looooove choirs). But the most impressive thing
is the ambience that grows from track to track... getting stronger and
stronger you get sucked into a world where you can only hear sounds
of steel and magic... forgetting you ever lived in the 20th century
and waking up all your senses, instincts and emotions. Not many albums
made that kind of effects on me... being a fan of the medieval age and
especially the Excalibur legend, I'm telling you, this is one of the
best piece of the kind you're gonna find (lyrics and power), even though
the music itself doesn't sound that medieval unlike Blind Guardian for
example. A have-in-your-collection-or-die album !
