Although I didn't know them, this band exists since 1984 and claims to be the first Thrash/Death band of Holland. As they haven't released anything new since 1992 this album is a kind of resurection for the band. It seems they had some problems with their old label Shark Records and they have now signed with Hammerheart.

I can't say that Thanatos is very original but they rather play some classic style thrash and death songs. But originality isn't always necessary and they know what they have to do: blow up your speaker with agressive riffs. Most of the songs are fast paced with a few slower parts that rely more on a dark atmosphere. The production could be better, the sound of the guitars should be more sharp and really explode, this isn't the case. I've heard better drums too.

Those critics put aside, this is a good album that will please fans of the genre and with such a "Buy me! Buy me!" cover-art I'm sure it'll have some success.
