Zwischen Asgard Und Midgard is the third album from German Pagan/Viking Metal band Thrudvangar. Zwischen Asgard Und Midgard contains eight tracks which are filled with blistering blast drum beats, fast tremolo guitar picking, doomy bass lines, reptilian throated vocals and melodic keyboard parts. Bands like Emperor, Immortal and Finntroll come to mind when listening to this album.

As with most Pagan/Viking Metal albums these days, the production on Zwischen Asgard Und Midgard is very good. The drums stand out the most, driving the music while the guitars and keys provide the atmosphere. The music shifts gears between slow and mid paced speeds to more up tempo, thrashy punkish ones. The music is also very rhythm oriented with no flashy guitar solos to be found anywhere.

Despite the harsh vocals, there is plenty of melody found within Thrudvangars music. Although most of the songs are sung in German, it hasn't stopped me from enjoying this type of music. However, I could appreciate it even more if I could understand what the band was singing about. Thor and Frostland are the only two songs with English titles.

The album cover is pretty cool. It depicts a Viking and bird of prey facing snowy gray mountains.

Zwischen Asgard Und Midgard clocks in at forty six minutes and fifteen seconds. Zwei Raben, Siegvater and Frostland would be considered the more epic styled tracks as they run about seven minutes or more. I've listened to the album several times but nothing has really stuck with me to the point where I could remember what a song sounded like. After a while a lot of Pagan/Viking Metal starts to sound the same and bands that don't have anything to differentiate themselves from the pack can easily get lost in the mix.

I still recommend you check out Zwischen Asgard Und Midgard as there just might be something there that grabs your attention.
