As far as progressive rock bands go, Yes are among the elite. Formed in 1968 by Jon Anderson and Chris Squire, they went on to huge success, selling 30 million records throughout their 30+ year history. Volume 2 is the successor to Volume 1 which was released in 1998. Like Volume 1, Volume 2 features tracks by the members of Yes and their various side projects, all of which enjoyed various level of success.

I know Yes ... but not their relatives honestly. Anyway ... before hitting the play button I was sure to not be blasted by black metal or neo-thrash riffs. Here, we are diving into progressive rock music and the word "head-banging" doesn't have its place. For our readers who know Yes and their musicians, Jon Anderson, Rick Wakeman, Steve Howe are present on this double CD (10 songs per cd, 2 hours of prog/rock!!!).

Yes opens the fire with an excellent New State Of Mind. Esquire and their Big Girls Don't Cry follows ... very quiet, very commercial (we are at thousand light-years away from metal here). Steve Howe & Jon Anderson (Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands) are not far away from Simon & Garfunkel on that song.

And this is where I decide to stop my review, because if you are a fan of prog/rock, Simon and Garfunkel or Yes, you might check this double "slow rock" CD. Die-hard fans of Yes, your collection is not complete without Volume 1 & 2 of Yes, Friends and Relatives. If you are fan of heavy metal, riffs, head-banging stuff and screaming vocals, this one is not for U.
