Fourth album and those guys are still somehow almost unknown. And trust
me, they really deserve to be known. OK, previous album "Wrong
Time, Wrong Place" has been released three years ago now (1996)
and this can explain why Squealer is still positioned in the underground
championship. However, Squealer has already its own sound and its own
typical melodies. No copy cat here. Trash / Power metal straight in
your face. Henner (singer) has more or less the same voice with Grave
Digger's singer, but more flexible. This album is slower compare to
their new one (Made For Eternity). When I say slower, I mean heavier
and more trashy. Production is crystal clear and I really like the artcover.
"The Prophecy" starts with Friends For Life, where
Tobias Sammet (Edguy's singer) has been invited for the choirs and some
verse. Very good song and very good intro also. ...But No One Cares
is a mid-tempo ballad with trashy part, very original. The voice of
Henner on this one is impressive. Live Everyday is faster, classical
power metal song, with clever lyrics and great chorus lines. But the
best song on "The Prophecy" is this Nowhere To Hide.
A neck breaker song !!! The guitar's riff will stay in your head forever.
I See The world is a typical speed song (what a tempo my friends).
"The Prophecy" ends with the first song (intro - outro).
I almost forgot the Depeche mode cover. A masterpiece. Even better compare
to the original one. I am wondering who the hell is singing on this
one. You will have the feeling to listen to..........Depeche Mode's
singer himself. Congratulation guys.
For open mind Testament, Slayer and Iced Earth's fans, this one is for
you.
I didn't know Squealer before and "The Prophecy" is one of
my favorite album for 1999.
