Timescape is another prog metal band who's inspiration comes from ... yes of course : Dream Theater. But how could it be different, after all they're the masters of the genre ahead of the others. The elements that demonstrate their inspiration from DT the most is the singer and the transition, by the book, standard DT.

Unfortunately they sound millions of light years far away from Dream Theater... first they lack Power in their sound... they use weak sound with very few basses. The songs itself are quite boring and the singer is simply not good enough. Plus they use too much keyboards sounds from the Prog scene that tend to bore the shit out of me. The overall sound is too "empty"... it really feels like it misses some instruments.

A quite medium, almost weak release. It offers nothing new, and isn't very original. There are a few cool moments but those are too shy to really make a difference. Most of the time I'm bored out of my mind. There are far better Prog releases if you ask me, especially these days where the Prog Metal scene doesn't stop to surprise me. Unless you're a die-hard fan of Prog Metal and need every album in the genre, I suggest you try this one first because by the end of the day, it will be long gone from my memory.

Killing Songs :
Stranger In A Mirror is "cool"... but not killing.
