Surprise of the month

Fans of doom, My Dying Bride, Anathema and of course Black Sabbath (yeah again !), this one is for you. Novembers Doom are coming form Chicago (USA). They play a very atmospheric doomish heavy metal, full of emotions and use different types of vocals (from clear to aggressive, male and female).

Clever song-writing, never boring, aggressive, dynamic and always atmospheric, The Knowing is not only an alternative to all other doom released nowadays, but is also the best output in doom metal style since the beginning of the year. I do not necessary appreciate all the instrumental parts (piano, acoustic guitars, female vocal), but if you just sit back and listen carefully, you will enjoy every note ... without being stoned.

On the other hand, let's not forget that bands like Septic Flesh, Anathema and especially Lake Of Tears (Forever Autumn) have already marched this land. Now if you like the above bands and if you are fan of doom metal, you will (should !) jump on this release. All others will need a few spins to fully digest The Knowing.

Black Sabbath or Cathedral still rule, but Novembers Doom is not that far away ... anymore. Well done guys !
