Album of the month

Whooaaaawww !!!

After the excellent Solitude Dominance Tragedy, here comes the follower from this Swedish heavy/prog band called In Search Of Truth. Somehow this new album continues exactly where the previous record ended. Where Solitude Dominance Tragedy highlighted a rocky, In Search Of Truth confirms a star is born and its name is Evergrey.

First track, The Masterplan (a masterpiece!) is the introduction of the concept album. I let you discover the concept and the wonderful story behind In Search Of Truth, but in two words this is the story of a human who has been kidnapped by aliens. However, from the depression atmosphere of the previous album, we have passed to hope, as In Search Of Truth is much more melodic and much easier to digest.

Tom Englund is again the big winner here. Ok the whole band is doing a great job on In Search Of Truth, but this singer is definitely the trademark of the band with his untypical warm vocals. Evergrey sounds like Evergrey and there are very few bands on this planet able to write such songs. Can you believe this one has been written in six week ? I can't !!!

The Pink Floyd's spirit flies above this one and if you are fan of Nevermore and Dream Theater, Evergrey stand here proudly in between … and not that far from Pain Of Salvation, but is much more accessible.

Let's be straight and simple : your metal collection is not complete without In Search Of Truth. Am I clear enough ?

Killing Songs :
The whole record !!!!!
