Melodica is a nice Hard-Rock band, or maybe side project. The singer Ted Poley is Danger Danger's singer, which makes me think Melodica might be a side project. One thing is sure, I'm an ultra fan of Danger Danger, so it's more than eagerly than I was waiting to listen to that album.

Strangely the first listen where quite inconclusive, but slowly (and surely) the album entered my mind patterns and I must say that it's a really very cool Hard-Rock feeling. The vocals are the same you can find in the Danger Danger albums, sweet and touching. The music is a bit quieter, a little bit like the new Dare, it's really calm stuff. Yet you can find nice melodies, catchy choruses and a overwhelming positive feeling getting out of the disc. The guitars are very warm, short cut and effective riffs, nice keyboards to fill the sound spectrum. Without being any kind of revolution this album is the perfect example of what I call a fairly good release. An interesting treat is also that the album gets better and better along with the songs, the best ones being the last tracks for me (although the album is pretty constant), even the very last track, an instrumental track called Save Yourself kicks some serious ass !

In the end, if you're fan of Danger Danger, Dare or other Hard Rock bands of the same caliber, I suggest you give Melodica a try, cause this album will without any doubt warm your winter nights, and if you find yourself with someone to hold while watching the fireplace, then you'll find yourself happy to share this Love Metal with your loved one. Good job !
