Unless you want to go into a band with it, then nothing should stop you from being afraid to suck- and without practice and at the beginning, you will suck; but you'll get better.
Yeah, I don't think I'll ever end up playing in a band, and if I do it'll just be for fun. I would actually like to play drums, but I don't have any room in my house for a kit...plus, drums are insanely difficult. I think it's easy to forget just how hard it is when listening to so many bands with great drummers.
So, maybe I'll pick up guitar this summer...
