After quiting FFXII and completing Dragon Quest VIII i started playing Phantasy Star IV (1994) from the Sega Mega Drive collection (ps2)
somewhat fun to play actually, and unlike most of the old rpgs it's quite easy to figure out, since there's a talk funktion like Dragon Quest VIII that makes it easy to figure out where to go next... not only that, it actually also have side quests in the vein of FFXII in terms of small jobs you get paid to do - first job was to kill a giant sand worm. I bet that the team behind FFXII got the idea from Phantasy Star IV, which was quite a big hit back in the days. Furthermore, you get to travel between planets 😛 naice!
of course, there's two bad things: everytime you search the ground a text box will pop up "There's nothing here, let's move on instead of wasting time", old-school as hell, and pretty annoying as well in the long run... and the names of the spells and techniques makes no sense or perhaps they are japanese, examples on names: GiWat, Gires, Doran, GiZan, Savol, Hinas, Ryuka.. and then skills that you'd think you could figure what meant: exaple " Earth" .. ah must be some kind of earth magic attack!?... but no it's a skill that stuns the enemy, that doesn't work most of the times, so you'll have a hard time figuring out what it's supposed to do in the first place.
