For those who are still interested in the decade old debate about usage of American military force in the world, there was an Intelligence Squared Debate entitled "Should we clip Americas wings" that was fairly thought provoking. I never knew that the occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan have thus far cost about 2 trillion dollars. Check it out if you have the time

This seems like a relatively paltry fee when faced with the many examples of wasteful spending from our faithful leaders. Only the almighty can truly fathom the magnitude of Boehner's tanning salon fees and Vodka fund, Obozo's golfing trips, Mccain's nursing home fees, Pelosi's trips to the mall, and what would we do without the scintillating sequal to Going Rogue????!!!

People act as if illegal immigrants don't pay taxes. It's not as if GE is the only company who skips out on paying taxes and it's not as if the wealthy in no way find loopholes to avoid paying taxes. By law, they pay so little in taxes yet illegals do. And it is not as if companies like GE ever cause unquantifiable damage to the public which could never be made acceptable through taxation or reparations cough BP cough

But act as if the article doesn't have bigger implications and as if illegals are really the cause of our problems :rolleyes:

Yeah, I'm not going to even pretend that the HF is exactly unbiased, but still, if Media Matters points something out that is true, I'll give them credit.
Of course, anti-government waste (all excessive, unnecessary spending, in fact) is a large part of being conservtaive, so it shouldn't be a surprise that it is those types of publications that will monitor and report such things.
And to be fair, they point out waste from both sides of the aisle.

Have any of you actually sat down and watch CSPAN commissions on various subjects? I'm watching one on wartime contracting. And its from the bureaucrats:"Blah, blah, blah there has been an increased level of oversigh, 110 debarrments, Petraeus is making us accountable". My question being even with more and more federeal "oversight" and regulations, why hasn't the ground situation improved on either the private sector and the overall mission? All and all the people at the head of the commission are slapping the contractors on the wrists, and the contractors are rehashing their own talking points.
