I must be the only person in the world is not all that impressed with Khan. I think his vocal tone is good, but not incredible.

I'm gonna catch some shit for saying so, but when I sing Kamelot songs, I find them a bit effortless compared to a lot of other shit. Silent Force (DC Cooper) for example is very very difficult to get down, so is stuff like Tribuzy for the insane range alone. I just don't see what warrants all this praise the guy gets. Sure the songs are good, but I don't think the guy has recorded anything any other pro singer is going to struggle with.

I think Khan, if he is writing his own notes, chooses the easiest and most familiar note progressions. Some of these singers are crazy. They will write out a 15-not progression on an acoustic guitar and woodshed it until it's clean and perfect...then work on the next line until they have something that would take anyone else probably a few days just to figure out for each song.

Fabio seems to be having an easy time with it. I seriously doubt Khan could sing most of Fabio's work from the first two VD albums.

Damn dude. His voice feels like getting a massage while bathing in chocolate sauce. Him and the guy from Seventh Wonder make up the only two singing voices that manage to turn me gay every time I hear them.

I gotta say though, it must be tough to be in a band based in the US while you and your family are based in Norway. I can see how the pressure must've gotten to him.

I think Roy may have "auto traumatized" himself with The Great Pandemonium. In the sense that it was too dark for his religious views and in the sense that he didn't want to sing stuff like "I spoke to God but he wasn't there" anymore. I mean just watch the video , that's pretty dark and borderline demonic :lol:

I know it sound crazy but apparently there is a religious reason behind his departure according to Thomas and very religious people tend to be affected by stuff like that and question their own views at some point. I know a guy who was once in a black metal band but then converted to Christianity to the point where he destroyed all his metal collection and cut off all links with his metal past. As i said , crazy but possible. Not saying that's why Rpy left but that's possibly a part of the reason why :unsure:

I like Fabio myself but you can't compare the two since both have 2 different distinctive vocal styles.

Khan made an impression in the metal world like no other. His voice is bright,energetic and emotional. He doesn't need to wow you with high pitch wails. He does a fine job with his mid range as to the testament to those who have already responded to this thread including me.

Well according to sources that's one of the reasons why he left. I don't know why because Kamelot's music isn't what you would classify as demonic. Their lyrics tend to deal with philosophy,medieval mythology and certain literature and poetic themes. Far from satanic. Yes some themes are dark but not in a way it should offend a Christian considering I'm a Christian and I consider Kamelot my favorite band.

But then again certain religious people might want to distance themselves from metal or from non Christian themes and they feel it's too dark for their tastes. I respect Khan's decision though and others should as well.

Don't take this personally, because unlike yourself I don't intend to belittle someone for their opinion. Don't be a hypocrite suggesting that unless you are far better than the talent you are talking about in their field, you don't have the right to an opinion. That is complete bullshit and you know it.

He is second rate. Second rate in Prog or Power metal is extremely good, among the best actually and I have only busted people's balls that wanna put him up on some untouchable pedestal that no one can replace him. Fabio and Edu seemed to not have many problems. He ain't Elvis and this isn't the Elvis Presley band.

Can't compare the two? If you can't be compared to your contemporaries what they hell can you compare? They are both Power Metal singers. That's good enough for me. Especially when people want to act like Fabio is not good enough to sing what Khan physically can't.

I'm saying as a singer who's done the material, I find Kahn to be like George Lynch is to guitar. Insanely good, but not the top of the heap.

I'd tickets for Kamelot, (they were touring Mexico some weeks ago), and I throw 'em to the garbage when I found that Fabio was coming instead of Roy... because he was feeling depressed.... what a fucking gay. And now he quits!

Karma is one of my fav power metal albums ever. I admit that I didn't like too much their last two albums, perhaps the separation was the best thing.

It's one thing having an opinion but your track record speaks for itself. There's a reason why Khan is well liked in the power metal community it's because he's made an impact on us all.

And yes every singer is going to have their haters it comes with the territory. But ripping someone because everyone likes him and you don't is not having an opinion but being an asshole.

And yes Khan and Fabio are in power metal but each one sings their styles different. Fabio has a higher range then Khan but that's because ROF requires higher range vocals and Kamelot doesn't. I mean would you compare the lyrical style of Rhapsody with Kamelot no because 2 different styles even though they are still in the same niche.
