How do you rate it compared to the ones previous?
The general consensus seems to be that it's the better of the lot, though that's something I never understood.
It's good, in fact very good, but I never felt that it lived up to it's predecessor.

The one thing that stands out as a peculiar taste of people you are talking about is: the general structure and the direction of the song-writing might be more interesting as opposed to say "The Shadowthrone." More technical in parts as well. However, as for me, I would say both the aforementioned album and this one have golden moments followed by outstanding song-writing and very acceptable lyrical content. I sold my original pressing for Dark Medieval Times quite a few years back thinking that I did not like it anymore because I wasn't into that kind of BM anymore. Obviously I have made a horrendous mistake and regret it infinitely. I love the first three Satyricon albums equally. I believe, "Nemesis Divina", dare I say has a more well-rounded song-writing approach and must I say a bit mature in nature... which is quite apt from an aging musician.

The introduction to that track is very effective, and the music that follows shows exactly how low-fi production can be excellent. Up there with Woods to Eternity and Nemesis Divina for me for my 3 favorite tracks. Satyricon used to be so good.

I like new Satyricon. It's not as good as the stuff off of dark medieval times or nemesis divina, but rebel extravaganza is a good one as are the two newest, while more commercial still have some good songwriting.

Yeah, I don't think newer Satyricon is bad either, and I quite liked Rebel Extravaganza, they just used to be better.

Yeah, I didn't mean it's the greatest comeback ever, I just meant it's the greatest comeback no one ever heard. Most of the other good comebacks got a lot more publicity and credit than this one.

Anyway, these guys actually released a comeback album in 2007, but it was no where near as good as this one, so this is their proper comeback. I think they've broken up again though.
