I love this band so much so perhaps that fact is clouding my judgment slightly, but this is a very strong album IMO. Not as fast and catchy as previous records, but there's not one bad track here, closing epic is not Heathen Journey awesome but pretty close. Some fans could have a problem with the inclusion of three slower songs. I love it so far.

I've finished the first spin, sounds very good, but highlight of the year? I don't think so, at least not yet. Have to say that I listened the album in my work, so for my final verdict I need to hear it several times with my earphones in a dark room.

This is my first exposure to Evoken. What do you think of their past albums?

Evoken is the band that got me into funeral doom so I do have to admit that I have a soft spot for them, that might cloud my judgement of this album a little bit. But they're one of the most consistently awesome funeral doom bands out there. Definitely check out Quietus and Antithesis of Light if you like what you hear on this one, those are their best.

Don't think it was as good as their best albums, Alex. Antithesis of Light and Quietus was their peak.

Heard it today. Deutche heavy metal at it's best. They haven't rocked this hard for almost a decade now ( since Rheingold ). Excellent.
