Older and colder. And duller, to my ears, although it's certainly Drudkh at their usual competent selves.
Track 2, "When Gods Leave Their Emerald Halls" is excellent. Intense drumming, shifting dynamics, and the part at 6:30 reminded me of Borknagar's brilliant 'Dawn of the End'! The other three main tracks are a bit dull and samey, so far. Reminds me of what plagued them on Estrangement. They always have these moments where they show hints of excellent musicianship, but haven't developed them completely yet.
Handful of Stars was probably a bridge too far, too quickly, and this feels like a reaction to the criticism they received for that; I wish they could just pick up where Microcosmos left off.
