Louis C.K., Mitch Hedberg, I like a lot of black comedy, like some Coen bros. movies... There's Monty Python, The Young Ones... Mel Brooks movies... some other stuff. I can't pull out everything I thought was funny all at once.

I agree with you on most of those people, but I can also find humor in Seth Rogen.

oh well, different strokes I guess. Something tells me that you are not much of a pot smoker. Maybe a lot of his humor is lost on you because you do not partake in such activities.

I like Seth Rogan because he's like that one friend that everyone has that says hilarious shit. He doesn't say jokes like they're jokes; it's more like the funny parts of what he's thinking just pop out of his mouth and it's like hell yeah that's hilarious.

The monologue, the spinning and that really disturbing 70s ambient music....eek!

I thought the first half of Herzog's' Nosferatu' was like a religious experience; the journey to the castle and then the castle itself are a triumph of disturbing shots and music.

His Fitzcarraldo is slow, but never a film you'd be angry for spending 2 1/2 watching. A guy wants to build in opera house in the Amazon jungle...and damnit, he is going to do it! A really uplifting ending, and one of the most spectacular scenes in film history--a 320 ton steamship is dragged up and over a mountain by the Amazon natives.

Edit--Dago was on the ball with this rec already!

And I have both of his boxsets, Zad, an incredible bargain for all those good movies.

The Great Buck Howard - Held my attention pretty firmly for an hour and a half and left me feeling happy. Nice to see John Malkovich's talent being put to use and Tom Hanks worked well in making a generic dad character have a memorable scene or two.

No Impact Man - imo more pro-environment movies should be like this because it tells you stuff you can do and was happy instead of yelling OH SHIT WE'RE FUCKED over and over again. Also the interaction between the husband and wife was nice.

Batman Returns (actually, I bought it on DVD). Great movie. However, is it just me, or is it painfully obvious that a dummy was used for Selina's unconscious body after being tossed out Shreck's window? Kind of ruined the whole effect of that scene. :rolleyes:

About half way through Year One. Fuck, what a horrible movie. I mean, there's a couple bits that made me chuckle, but for the most part, it's awful. I can't STAND Michael Cera, and even the normally eccentric Jack Black falls short here. Not sure if I want to bother finishing it or not.

Watching Terminator: Salvation again with the kid I'm babysitting now. Really awesome action scenes, and some good performances, but there will NEVER be another Terminator movie that's as good as the first two.
