Departures - Not much plot tension but lots of emotions and holy fuck his wife

Also Scott Pilgrim vs the World looks like it's going to be as amazing as Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. fuck

The music is epic, the atmosphere is awesome, if you liked the book you'll enjoy the movie. I don't know about what Orion was expecting but the movie is true to the book and not action packed but seriously just about survival. It was minimalist and bleak but really gripping. My gf enjoyed it and she hates all movies. An hour into most I watch she's off doing other things but this one has her stuck to the seat throughout. If you get into it, the close scrapes get your heart beating.

I hadn't read the book, so I didn't know what to expect. I didn't think it was awful, just not amazing.

At the same time it was out in theatres, so was The Book of Eli and they're totally two different types of film. I was just thinking if you were looking for The Road to be like that then it would be understandable. I don't know; I think it's just a cool account because I feel like that's what it would all be like if it was to happen.

I liked the the Book of Eli.

And I agree with what Trapt said about The Road being somewhat realistic if that situation was to occur. It just seemed to ramble without too much direction though.

Totally agreed. It's five events in the course of a father and son trekking through post-apocalyptic Canada. That's it. No origin and really no direction besides to the coast.

Iron Man 2. Exactly what I wanted. Funny, fun, dumb, explosions, robots, and Scarlett Johansen. This is how you make an action movie. Though I had no idea who Samuel L. Jackson was, who kind of appeared out of nowhere and who I'm pretty sure was not in the first movie.

You had to stay for after the credits of the first film in order to get to Samuel L. Jackson, so I can understand if it was kind of confusing as to who the hell he was and what he was doing there. Nick Fury (of Shield), in the movies at least, I don't know too much about Avengers comics really, is setting up the Avengers team.

After the credits of Iron Man 2 you get to see Mjöllnir being all immovable in the desert. I'm geeked for Thor, and it's going to be interesting to see how it feels being tied to the Iron Man and Hulk eventual Captain America movies, for although they're pretty damn zany at times, they're still ostensibly based around "science." I'm not sure how they're going to fit Norse gods into that equation, but I don't really care!

They should do a Jung and make them psychological archetypes. Now that, that would be cool. Instead, they'll probably be aliens or something.

Hm, Bradshaw gave it a pretty positivite review- 4 stars iirc. I thought it was great. The dialogue and the antics throughout the first half are proper Morris and loads of the lines could be straight out of Nathan Barley. Then it gets more and more disturbing as you go along and all the laughter starts to drain away. I think it probably did say something quite sage as well... a graphic illustration of how stupid and easily led otherwise normal people can become extremely scary.

The only weakness I guess would be way at times it becomes too much like a caricature of stupidity. Not one but two of the main characters could basically be the Pakistani equivalents Dougal from Father Ted- which is very funny but not that subtle.

Go see it asap is my advice.

Ya... I'm all for secret scenes, they can be fun and all, but you probably shouldn't introduce a major character and plotline into one. But whatever, at least Samuel L. Jackson was awesome and a pirate, so I could roll with it.

Yeah. I'm not big on "funny" movies anyway though. Most of them try to hard.

How is that even possible! I mean, sure, you couldn't watch a comedy on every possible occasion, but surely there must be comedy films that tickle your funny bone endlessly!

Occasionally there are some comedies I enjoy, but on the whole I'm just not that into them. For example, everybody creams their pants over The Hangover. I watched it. Sure, there are some funny parts here and there, but for the most part I just thought it was pretty stupid. I did, however, enjoy I Love You Man. Personal preference.
