that asshole Pauleta just lashed back at his critics, who say he only scores against shitty teams.
"oh i scored against brazil and the netherlands"
let's see... today portuguese sports paper Record published a list of his goals.
greece - 1 goal (friendly, of course)
brazi - 1 goal (friendly)
england - 1 goal (friendly)
sweden - 1 goal (friendly)
the netherlands - 1 goal (qualifier)
so 5 goals against good teams, ONLY ONE OF THEM in an official match. 5 goals out of 46, OH THAT'S REALLY IMPRESSIVE. PLEASE TEACH ME YOUR JEDI FOOTBALL SKILLS.
and the fucking media just keeps sucking his dick, saying that "he's got 46 goals and that's what counts" and shit. fuck them.
/pauleta rant (the last one, at least until he fucks up in the world cup, i promise!)
also am i the only one annoyed by this fake patriotism? patriotism is in itself a questionably attitude in this day and age (though this is a topic for another thread), but fake patriotism is decidedly shit.
FACT: portuguese people hate their country, and only criticize it - yet when it's football time everyone's proud and "united for portugal" and shit. no one gives a damn about the flag and what it represents, no one knows the national anthem, but with football everyone knows it (or at least the final verse).
in euro 2004 Scolari asked people to hang a flag on their windows out of support. people did just that, but after it was over they just kept it outside, to be destroyed by the weather. it makes me sick. taxi drivers with flags on their antennas, totally blackened by smoke and ripped appart by the weather. bah.
then all these companies are suddenly sponsoring the team, trying to tie a brand in with the people's support of their national team. bah. GALP (portuguese gas company) wants to do a... you know.. people with their hands together thingy, all the way from portugal to germany. pathetic. whoever signs up with that shit should be dragged out on the streets and be raped by 10 large black men fresh out of prison.
