In fact in my supervisor meeting yesterday they were going on at me about that. One of them said "this is incredibly pretentious and just the kind of thing first year phd students write because they think it will impress their supervisors"
Which is kind of patronising as I always write with long sentences... it wasn't like I wrote them thinking "yeah this will wow them.... 67 syllables!".
They also said I was an "implicit vanguardist", although I'm not too offended by that hehe.
