Dude it isn't an outrage to not like what you like? Sorry but it isn't. I don't like AJFA, I think outside of 3 or 4 songs it is pretty much worthless to ME, you love it all you want.

I have always thought AJFA was Metallica's best album.

AJFA is a very good album. The only thing wrong with it is the thin bass guitar due to the production. The interesting part of this discussios is how Metalheads don't get tired of the same fuckin' discussions!

I also think AJFA is a great album. It's tied with MOP as my favorite Metallica album.

AJFA is a great album. Dyer's Eve is a boring song? Blackened? People who think they are boring are loons.

As for the new song, terrible introduction, followed by a potentially reasonable yet average song that's ruined by a pretty poor live performance.

Ken: You're absolutely right about Cliff. Arguing that if he was alive he'd be forcing them to make more speed metal albums is really just romanticising things way too much. I'd imagine Cliff is up in heaven now thinking, "Way to go guys, you sure made a lot of money".

Since the topic of AJFA came up, well i think it is metallica's best album. And One is one of my fav songs and Dyre's Eve is great too. I used to indulge in metallica bashing before, and thought i would never get tired of it. But i eventually did and moreover felt it was pretty childish. Atleast the way i used to do it was. But i must admit, it is fun to see arguments between fans of the band and people who hate the band. :lol: Pretty interesting too. Some valid points from both sides.

I don't hate the band, I love the 1st 3 albums. I just wish they would stop being an embarrasment.

Were. When a band stops writing their own material they're done. Especially when they once wrote some amazing music.

People also don't realize that as you age you see the world differently, as you were once an angry youth you've now become a content and often happy adult! When you're an artist your art reflects who you are at that moment! Anyone wonder why St. Anger sucked so hard? Watch Some Kind Of Monster. It's all right there! That album reflected the state of the band, they weren't working well together and none of the songs work well together.

When people mellow and change, their art reflects that. Some people need to realize this. You think Cliff would have continued living in a shithole apartment and drive an '82 Camaro—no paint, all primer—just because it was metal? Pffft! He'd be up in Hollywood living in a mansion, drinking Cristal with P. Diddy, Lars and a bunch of art fags.

I think Cliff's tragic accident was a great publicity for Metallica, it really helped building the legend. Without it, i think Metallica would still play in the same league as their colleagues Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeth...maybe bigger than them, but still in the same league, and they would not be drinking with P.Daddy. And their music would be different, not because of Cliff, but because of their different status.

Uhhhhhh... I'm a sellout. Sort of. I really really don't get what's so great about Master of Puppets. I thought they peaked at Ride the Lightning. Which was a great album. I also don't see what's so great about Kill 'em All, although it did have some killers songs. I guess the time at which it came out has a lot to do with it.

I do like Master of Puppets, but every time I listen to it I get bored of the title track before it's over and skip ahead, then just skip right over The Thing that Should not Be, Leper Massiah, and Orion because they're all boring.

With AJFA I usually fade out of paying attention and when I snap back in I ask myself "Is this still the same song?" The answer's usually yes.

I thought the black album was an improvement. Then again it was my first metal album, so maybe I'm biased.

Not as bad as St. Anger. But to me it sucks. The only improvement they have is that the solos are back. I still think Lars's pedals are nothing to shout about, but as I said earlier, huge leap from St. Anger.

Oh, and James's voice is a big turn off. I think it spoiled the whole song for me.

Then download it and make your own decision.

As you can see there are diferent opinions even between metalheads: some like metallica from the beguining till now; some like them until the black album; and others until master of puppets; and some never liked them, ever.

It's good that you ask, but you should not skip only based in someones opinion. Unless you're sure about what you´ll find.

Normally, this is good reasoning, but St. Anger is so atrocious that even listening to it once will remove a facet of innocence and non-sucktitude from your life. Its not worth that one listen.
