Eyesore:
But the review is only meant to generate interest in an album. A review can only convey so much, you're correct, but reading a review should at least give you an idea of whether or not it's something you'd be interested in hearing. Plus, my review pretty much always contain links to MP3s or myspace so you can sample the album. =)
I read the reviews for things I think I might like. I don't read the review to find out if I might like the band. I find the reviews here are not often well written enough to convey to me whether or not it is something I'd like. You can only use the same adjectives to describe music a limited number of times before they lose their meaning. Additionally, the music is often compared to other bands that I have no clue who they are. If I hear about a band. In general, reviews don't do a whole lot for me unless I already know something about what is being reviewed.
Admit it, you just don't like to read!
Actually, I love to read. 😛
Why not? Make the time, woman!!
I am taking a full load of upper level classes this semester, and when I'm not in class, I have hours worth of homework to do every night. I can't listen to music when I study, because either the music gets ignored, or I pay more attention to the music than my homework. If I'm going to listen to a CD, I'd like to be able to devote all my attention to the music, instead of just letting it run as background noise. As it is, I have a whole pile of burned CDs sitting on my desk that haven't even been listened to once, yet. 🙁 With my luck, I probably won't get to even look through them to see what's there before winter break.
