The Leafs win a game! Pandemonium!

Glad they're finally back in it- a division rivalry is hard to maintain with a last place team. Let's hope they win thursday's also so Saturday's Leaf-Habs game will be more fun.

As for the Habs... I am incredibly happy. Four game win streak, two shutouts and three goals against overall in that period, and 15 for us- against very good teams too, like Boston, Philly and Vancouver. Price is playing great, but overall the team is really gelling- Gionta has been killer with Pleks and Cammie, our third and fourth lines are really producing, and Andrei has been great as well. The extremely bad news is that Markov is out for who knows how long with another knee injury, his third in a couple of years... Sadly it looks like it's going to be a recurring problem for the rest of his career. Halpern is also out, which is too bad, because he's been a solid third liner. We will definitely miss Markov. But somehow this year losing our best defenceman, who is our best overall player isn't killing us like it has every year. It's still early on in the season, but I'm very proud of this team and the absolute team game that they've been playing. GO HABS GO!

Ugh, I am having an absolute shit week in goaltending.

Okay, so the Canes made up for 15 goals against in two games last week with 7 tonight against the Senators. Staal with a hattrick and 5-point night, and that first line was blazing and combined for eleven points in total. Nice to finally get the D going as well.

Also Babchuk and Kostopolous was traded to Calgary today for Brent Sutter and Ian White. Dunno much about Sutter except that he's Brandon's cousin, but Ian White should be a good addition above Babchuk. Sad to see Kostopolous go, great fucking guy, I wish him all the best.

I'm not trying to defend the senaturds, but they did not make the trip to Carolina until well into the day. The assistant coach and former team mates 14 year old daughter killed herself, and it was her funeral that day. They had already lost the game before it started.

seriously, he's been fantastic. In an up and down year, Gus and Schenn have been the only true bright spots. I want Grabo to keep putting up points so we can trade him. Hopefully Versteeg continues on his recent pace. MacArthur I really don't care if he puts up points, sure him getting points means we are scoring but I don't see Clarke as a Leafer in the long run. Phaneuf needs to return ASAP. People bitch about him being a minus or how he's not scoring, well points aren't everything. He plays with his heart and he's one of the few physical players on the team. Colton Orr!!! Toughest SOB in the the league.

Yeah, we won and winning feels good. I may be overreacting, but fuck this past week has been 10x better then the 2-3 weeks before it.

The best thing the team has done in years is drafting Luke Schenn. As if people were saying we should of traded him over the summer.

And what about Kadri? Not scoring, but he is definitely the best forward on the team in terms of his passing.

Kings have lost 7 out 8 with the one victory coming in a shootout after being completely outplayed for 45 minutes. If not for that stolen victory the Kings would have lost 8 in a row.

All the young core players are stinking up the place, Quick being the exception. Unfortunately his great season is being wasted on the worst bunch of don't give a shit fat spoiled kids sad excuse for a team ever. Someone do me a favor, go kick Doughty in the fucking balls and shit in Kopitar's mouth. While you're at it, hack Johnson's leg off with Ryan Smyth's stupid wooden stick and drown Wayne Simmonds in a fucking swamp. Since Doughty got off so easy go back and start kicking him in the balls again and never stop. Never. Stop.

It's like they think they're too good to have to work hard to win. After a 12-3-0 start to the season they're now 13-10-0, from first in the West to last in the Pacific Division. They aren't even losing to good teams. They are playing other slumping teams or teams on back to back games, next they're playing Florida and they're gonna lose that one too because they just don't give a shit.

The only good thing about the Canes lately is that Staal is on the pace for a 100-point year which hasn't happened since his sophomore year. The guys are looking weary, and our D seriously needs to get better. As of now Pitkanen is carrying everything, and even if White has been a nice addition, Corvo, Gleason and McBain are looking very rusty. Last night against Dallas was a turnover-fest of dimensions and was just awful to watch. Even Ward snapped after the second goal which came off an odd-man break.

Everybody: Stop trading to Tompa Terrorizers. He is seriously robbing y'all.

Finally Habs broke their three game losing streak tonight. The good news is that two of those losses they played very well against tough teams (Philly and Detroit)- they were pretty bad in the Toronto game, though they picked up in the last third. Good win against Boston of all teams too. Subban is looking more confident, though he still makes far too many stupid turnovers- Patches got a goal and an assist tonight in his second game back after an awesome stint in the AHL, and Gomez is finally clicking. Bad news is they have a seven game road trip now, but let's hope they can stay consistent.

How about that Crosby, eh? So glad I have him on my team.

And how about that Washington? Considering their ridiculous offense last year and the amount of offensive talent they have, I still can't believe they've lost their last seven and have only scored nine goals in those games.

The only trade I'd consider somewhat of a robbery was the Vokoun for Turco one but that was purposed to me, not by me. Who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth?

I watched part 1 of the Road to the Winter Classic documentary on HBO, it's really cool. A lot of behind the scenes stuff from Washington and Pittsburgh, two teams currently on opposite sides of the spectrum as one is winning and one is losing. Lots and lots of cussing too, Bruce Boudreau has some potty mouth on him that's for sure.

The Hartnell/Green and Nash/Kovalchuk deal was very interesting but I wouldn't call it robbery considering the years that Green and Kovy are having.

As for my Turco/Vokoun deal, I pretty much took a gamble. At the time of the trade Vokoun had let in at least three goals for like 7 straight games or something and over the previous 2-4 weeks their stats weren't all that different. I still thnk the goaltending situation in Chicago remains uncertain. They're struggling right now but I just think they're too talented to continue like this and will hopefully soon enough get back to their elite status.

Vokoun provides solid SV% but GAA and Wins are always up in the air with him. Like I said, it's a risk I'm willing to take but I have been known to overpay from time to time. 😛

Also, if you believe robbery is involved you can always vote against the trade (unless you already did of course). 😛

Oh and I hate Brahm for picking up Fleischmann. :mad:

In one of my other pools a friend of mine just traded Evgeni Malkin and Marc-Andre Fleury for Steve Stamkos, Rick DiPietro and Jussi Jokinen. I was very close to voting against it as well but stopped myself. I know you need to give to get, but giving up Malkin and Fleury for basically just Stamkos? Stupid.

Cam Ward was already dropped in the league, for inexplicable reasons. I pretty much stopped caring after that; I should have vetoed the Vokoun--Turco thing too, though. Yes...I know my team sucks...and yes, I'll buy a cd for the winner still.

Ya, I understand what you were going for, but I think that in the end Vokoun is just a vastly superiour goalie, and it's not like this year Chicago and Turco are racking up the wins. As for Kovy... I think he's bound to turn it around. Whereas I think Hartnell is a good player but one who's going to peak out very soon. We'll see though. I do feel bad for Anteaters and understand his frustration- 1st pick Kovalchuk, 2nd pick Parise. Ugh, that's gotta hurt.

And I'll never vote against a trade (okay, maybe if the 1st place team is trading Malone for Ovechkin I would)- it ruins the fun.

As for Fleischmann.. Ha, we'll see. Hopefully I didn't pick him up right at the end of his streak. And of course, I dropped Huselius to get him, who promptly had a hat trick. Go Fleischmann, go!
