Ha, well I got pretty much everything wrong last round- the one upset I chose in the eastern conference was of course the only one that didn't happen. Still, I'm not complaining that I was wrong about the Habs losing in 6. And the Wings won, so I'm happy about that as well. But seriously, who would have predicted New Jersey out in 5 and all three division champions in the east out?
Here we go:
Habs vs. Pens: Pens in 6. I will be more than happy to be proven wrong again. Please sweep the Pens, Habs. I'm just not sure if they can keep up the pace for that much longer, especially with only a one day rest between series. And the Pens do have extensive playoff experience. Go Habs go!
Chicago vs. Vancouver: Chicago in 7. Should be a great series, and I think it can really go either way.
San Jose vs. Detroit: Wings in 6. Another tough one to call. The Wings are an older team and Howard a rookie goaltender. As usual, the Sharks should win this series. But I have no faith in the Sharks, especially since Nabokov looked shaky at times against the Avs and their first line looks once again to be choking (though I do like Marleau, so I hope that he at least starts playing better). Go Wings go!
Boston vs. Philadelphia: Boston in 6. On the one hand, I completely underestimated Philly- I thought they were a team as dead as any, and couldn't believe how they destroyed Jersey. I didn't have high hopes for Boston, either. But in the goaltending battle between Rask and Boucher, I'm going for Rask. Add the injuries of Carter and Gagné, and I don't think the Flyers are getting by this round.
Bring on the Habs-Bruins conference final!
