Eyesore wroteheatseeker wroteI'm not sure if anyone agrees with me, but I thought Scenes from a Memory by Dream Theater was a great CD...I would review it as a classic, but I have no idea about how much it impacted music and such. Whether it's a classic or not, though, it's something I would really like to see reviewed.
What's up, Nate dog? Personally I think Dream Theater's classic album is Images & Words. Sure, they've released some killer albums since, not one bad album in fact, but that album is their classic album.
Images & Words is definitely a classic--it basically invented progressive metal, at least the way it is today. But, Scenes from a Memory tends to be my favorite Dream Theater album...actually, my favorite album of all time. The songwriting is just incredible on that album, and I thought Mike Portnoy, John Myung, Jordan Ruddess, and James Labrie especially all gave their best performances on Scenes from a Memory. I personally think John Petrucci was best on Train of Thought, but I think he does his best writing (if not technical performance) on Scenes from a Memory. But, even if I just think this CD is really good and it isn't really that good, I'd still like to see it reviewed...
And Testament definitely needs some love. 😛
