So, UFC isn't very big in Australia, but we do get it on a couple channels, every once in a while.

I never knew which fights were worth watching though. Then recently i caught a couple of episodes of UFC wired, with joe rogan. It's supposed to be the best bits from the week of UFC.

If these are the best bits, i think maybe i find UFC a little boring.

I much prefer boxing. It's more elegant and refined.

Maybe, but boxing is circling the toilet. I am a HUGE boxing fan, but the sport is in serious need of an overhaul. There are way too many belts, and a lot of times the fights that should happen don't. The heavyweight division is an absolute joke, and there just aren't any rivalries right now. Hell, the fight that everyone wants to see, Mayweather v. Pacquiao, may never happen because of some BS dispute between Floyd and Bob Arum. Ridiculous.

I'm actually a bit of a noob myself, having only been following the sport since last winter, so a little under a year, but I am still learning.
MMA has it's own level of elegance and finesse. You just have to understand how really intricate the ground fight actually is...

Do you get Spike? UFC Unleashed is like an archival show of past bouts and if you listen to the commentators, it puts the thing into a nice perspective.

lol, come on, like no one knew he was going to steamroll Griffin. He made Griffin look pathetic, and exposed him for what he is... A mediocre MMA fighter with no real proficiency in any area... Just well rounded, and generally able to give someone a fight. Not trying to take anything away from Griffin, but I think it was just a silly fight to showcase the skills of Silva... Same with the Irvin fight at 205.

If he's going to continue to fight at 205 the fights should be against fighters that will give him trouble.

They need to challenge Silva. Henderson should get his rematch, or the winner of Maia/Marquardt... And if he's going to continue at LHW he needs to fight the top of the food chain in that division.

Also, I think a fight with GSP is in order. GSP would show the world how to beat Anderson Silva.

Anyway, it was an alright card. My buddy paid for it, so I just leeched over there. I forgot to post my picks, but pretty much all of them won but Amir Sadollah and Tamdan McCrory... Didn't really know all of the other prelim fighters, but I like McCrory, who lost a split decision. =(

I wanted Kflo and Forrest to win, just because I don't care for BJ Penn and Silva, but I picked those two to win.

ha, I was about 12 beers deep when I posted that.

But yes, Silva destroyed Forrest. I am aware that Griffin is not the most gifted fighter in the world, but he is tough as nails and Silva picked him apart. I feel for Forrest, as that must of been very embarrassing. I think with this win it should put Silva in line to fight the best that the LHW division has to offer. A fight between him and Rampage would be good. As for Hendo getting a rematch, it's already set just needs to be announced.

And I thought KenFlo was putting up a good fight, but Penn is just the bigger stronger guy and he showed it as soon as he took Florian down. Just needed to wait until the 4th round for that to happen.

Anyway, the overall card was pretty meh. But to see Silva destroy Forrest was worth the $50 price tag.

Rumor going around that Griffin quit and split due to an early jaw dislocation and loss of hearing on that side, as well.

I guess time will sort it out.

That's the wierd thing; Griffin can take a punch and the one that ended it didn't look all that heavy.

Was a bit dissapointed with the main event, though; the first fight (Neer / Pellegrino) was pretty good.
