That's such an amazing episode. I don't think any other tv show has ever handled a death so well. Too bad that you only have 5 more episodes or so till Buffy becomes mainly shit, so enjoy the goodness while you can.
spoilers and thatI thought the episode was excellent, one of the show's very best, until they threw in that encounter with the vampire at the very end. An opportunity for the show to just do straight-up drama, and they needed to throw that in at the end. Probably network insistence or something. Still good though..
SPOILERS OF DOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!
You know, I actually liked that. It showed that even in the face of death and tragedy, life and your responsibilities don't magically disappear; Buffy's job as the slayer won't ever stop, even when it's most inconvenient.
And SMG is definitely Emmy worthy in that episode. She's often overshadowed by the other excellent actors in Buffy, but I found she did a great job throughout the first five seasons- the last two she definitely phones it in, though.
Speaking of Emmys, Michael Emerson (a.k.a. Benjamin Linus on Lost) won for Best Supporting Actor! Woo! He completely deserves it- Emerson brings his a-game every week and partially thanks to his portrayal, Ben Linus is one of the best characters on the show and one of the best villains/not villains/misunderstood people in tv history.
