You seem bound to the concept that if anyone who doesn't pour the entirety of their mind into music as some sort of "spiritual" quest is somehow missing out on something. Half of the black metal you listen too is either bound up in some sort of half-baked pseudo-philosophical bent that it makes their music as pretentious as watching some spaced out New Age retard rant on and on about Higher consciousness and deeper meaning. Come to think of it thats probably why you derive such enjoyment from inferior bands like newer-Deathspell Omega, you can't even enjoy the music without striving some self-inflated ego you have because you can stomach reading rags from spiritual societies from 100 years ago.

I've more books than the roots of your hair and have wrote essays and prose more than you have ever written in your life. What am I pretending to? This is who I am buddy. I hate deception and anything that comes with it. What you call pretentious knowledge scholars call ancient knowledge. Some of most biggest philosophers ever in the history of philosophy went back in time and took upon themselves to commit themselves to ancient studies. I don't pretend to anything. It's rather amusing that those that have never committed themselves to knowledge and don't have the motivation to do so call those who are the opposite: "pretentious." Reading, writing, gathering knowledge is life-long goal of mine and will forever be that way.

I haven't heard the new one though, but yes, I prefer old Katatonia. I don't see why is that disappointing. You aren't too much into Power Metal and I don't feel disappointed. I don't always agree with you but I respect your opinion because I know that in general you're a man of good tastes. I will listen the new one in the curse of the week. I'll let you know my first impressions then.
