I mean, don't expect The Gallery, but for melodeath done the DT way, there was little wrong with it. Remember I thought the last Soilwork was good, however. 😛

Seriously, I stand by my opinion on both. You're not going to get a masterpiece from a big-name melodeath band these days - why not accept a metal album full of catchy, well-written songs instead? That's my thinking, anyhow.

Might as well stick The Panic Broadcast on now...

In my opinion, Haven was a weak album and I think Damage Done reversed the trend and rebooted the band though by Fiction it was running thin. Fiction is still a good album but the formula was well and truly done.

The last album was awesome. Again it revitalised the band. The sound was rawer and more bleaker and the readoption of clean vocals was well handled.

As for Soilwork I haven't heard anything since the awful Figure Number Five. That album was one of the worst pieces of shit I'd ever heard and put me off the band completely.

Formulaic pop song structures and choruses that are laughable with 'extreme' metal vocals placed way in the front. I heard it all before on Haven, why bothering hearing it again?

That's one album and it's one I quite enjoy, from what I've heard of Opeth it's not all that different minus the pop song structures. The only difference being it's extended into 10+ song structures, that make you want to tear my ears off.
