Kathaarian wroteAnd Carcass remained grindcore till the end? Fuck off.
Who said they stayed Grindcore? By Necroticism there was no real grind left in Carcass and even Symphonies was only grind in bits.Carcass helped pioneer melodic death metal while Napalm Death went from being an innovator to being a follower (i.e. Florida style Death Metal and then groove metal).
Kathaarian wroteND are the kings of grind and rightfully so. Their death stuff are not that bad either. And their albums since The Code... have been nothing short of awesome.
Their death stuff is in my mind average at best. The groove stuff is poor and I like groove (e.g. Morbid Angel's Domination is a phenomenal album in my mind).
Their albums since Enemy of the Music have been decent/good grindcore. But they're very samey and get quite repetitive.
Part of the problem is song overload - the average per album is about 14-15 songs. Most of them are similar and they tend to blur into one another and usually get bored by about track 8. And so many of them are not memorable even for fast grind.
If they reduced the number of songs to say 8-10, it'd be a lot more interesting.
I have to say I've always also been more partial to Benediction as well... :dio:
