What's wrong with it, other than not being Ultraviolence?

First off, it's weak. It lacks that punch to the groin that most thrash gives me. It sounds like a Trivium album without Heafy singing. Where's the speed? Thrash is about speed, riffs, and solos all of which are lacking. Plus Marks vocals sound fake. Sounds like there is a lot of studio touching up done. And it's not just the vocals that are like that, the whole album just sounds stale and bland. The Killing Season at least had some bite to it and The Art of Dying had some killer thrashing tunes. This one is just mediocre song after mediocre song that all seem to blend together into one long boring ass song.

I thought the vocals were pretty great, actually, and the songwriting more than good enough. Eh, not saying it's a masterpiece or anything, but a pretty solid album if you ask me. Agreed that Art Of Dying is better overall in terms of songs, though. Oh well.

Heard of these guys? Young Danish band.

I actually haven't heard that album. Hmmm. Would checking out the new one have killed you? It's streaming on NPR. About England and WWI and it's apparently all ethereal. I want it.

Well, since I actually own this one, and didn't know that/what NPR is... to point, not a bad album by any means. You can def. hear the Nick Cave connection with her, although this is quite light and ghostly in its own right. Will have to hunt that new one down.

Indeed .. Death Angel are just doing whatever they feel like, whether it fits someone's definition of thrash or not.

Much maligned by many but it includes some real gems from their mid-period (Tools of the Trade EP and some of the early compilations they were on - Hepatic Tissue Fermentation is probably one of the best Carcass songs).

Hearing a studio update for the new album made me want to give this another try.

Hopefully they'll drop all the pretentious stuff and just make a kickass album this time. Bad timing with the new Cavalera Conspiracy out soon...

I would consider that one of those bands who do decent stuff but are judged wrongly for not being "thrash". I didn't mind that album.
