How can a leftovers compilation be better than most of the band's albums?!
I'm three tracks into this album and I have to agree with you. The songs come very close and some moments are better than Deadwing and In Absentia. I only like the two albums already mentioned and Fear of A Blank Planet from PT. The other albums either haven't captured my attention and have a very strong pop sound for my taste or sound too much like Pink Floyd and as a result have no character of their own. Other times the atmosphere isn't captivating enough for a progressive rock album. The Sky Moves Sideways very much sounds like a Floyd album. It's rather unrealistic how these tracks from "Recordings" weren't included in an actual album is beyond me. I especially like the cello.
