Of course it's possible, I never meant to imply that girls should shut up about male subjects, but yes, they completely overreacted. The only reputation I have is for being direct and blatant about my opinions, and I think my frequent criticism of Islam gets seen as "racism". The editorial team in particular is quite PC, especially that Anne-Claire girl (apparently it was sexist for me to point out that the feminism movement creates its own standards and discrimination by considering some women "not real feminists"), but I'd have thought they might not completely ignore the other side of the discussion simply because OMG SEXIST!
Eh, I thought you looked a lot worse in that discussion. You made a rude comment that could easily be misinterpreted about an article you hadn't even read, then acted confused when people confronted you about it's rudeness. If you're going to say something that could be seen as thoughtless, sexist comment, it's better if it doesn't look like a thoughtless, sexist comment. Also I disagree with your point since I think fiction is premised on being able to empathize with people in different circumstances from yourself. Tolstoy wrote accurately about women's feelings; girls can appreciate Michael Cera movies, u kno?
I can see that, but all I meant was that boys (as was later evidenced by all the men in the discussion saying they liked it more than she did) would have liked Spider-Man more, being boys and all, hence a review written by someone with a dick would have been more positive.
If they'd waited to find out what I meant rather than jumping on me with utter moralizing, there might have actually been an interesting discussion on gender bias in cinema, but no, it's more important that they feel self-righteous. I'm debating whether I should stop writing for the paper altogether.
