I would suggest encrypting this anyway you can. If I ever got taken to court over MP3's I would defend myself and prove to the court that the MP3 is fair use because it does not constitute enough data to be of significantly high quality to constitute an accurate facsimile of the original.
You are kind of fucked if they go after you for FLAC, but I seriously doubt enough people use the format and the awareness of it is so limited, they probably wouldn't even look or check.
That said, the only MP3's I would download are Karaoke tracks, because fidelity is not really a concern since you are dealing with a version of the song that is so much acoustically different, your ear will never hear the degradation. That and they are recorded and engineered with low technical standards even though most of them sound as glossy as the originals. In other words, they are mostly all synthesizers and drum machines with the guitar tracks either being real and not requiring high sample rates or guitar samples run through real tube amps. It's odd, but they sound far better than real music as MP3's. Anyway, that last paragraph is neither here nor there.
