Deftones release new song

Deftones have released a new song called Leathers at the band's official web site, deftones.com, as a limited-time free download. The track is taken from the group's seventh album, Koi No Yokan, which comes out on November 13 and follows up 2010's Diamond Eyes. The first official single from the set, called Tempest, will be sent to radio stations in early October. Deftones will support the new CD with a nationwide headlining tour which kicks off on October 9 in Ventura, California. Prior to that, the group will play at the Epicenter festival in Irvine, California on Saturday (September 22) and the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California on Sunday (September 23).

TÝR signs with Metal Blade

Metal Blade Records is proud to announce their latest signing, the Faroe Islands natives, TÝR! The deal was signed in Hollywood, CA on Wednesday, September 12th at the Rainbow. The band are currently on tour with Korpiklaani, Moonsorrow and more. The tour will wrap up this Sunday in Worcester, MA, after which the band will return home to Europe for several shows and to begin production on their next album. Additionally, a video was released on Metal Blade TV in which Brian Slagel interviews the band. Release date for soundtrack of Nightwish's Imaginaerum revealed

Nightiwsh's long-awaited Imaginaerum film — based on the band's album of the same name — will be released theatrically in Finland on November 23. The movie will have its premiere on November 10 at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland, where the audience will be treated to both a full-scale Nightwish concert and the first-ever public screening of the movie. The official soundtrack of the movie, Imaginaerum by Nightwish: The Score, will be released on the day before the premiere — Friday, November 9. The album features 13 grandiose, unreleased re-interpretations of Imaginaerum tracks by Petri Alanko.

Battle Beast announce line-up change

Finnish metallers Battle Beast have parted ways with lead singer Nitte Vänskä and have replaced her with Noora Louhimo. Commented the band: "On August 19th, Nitte sent the rest of the band an e-mail stating that she was leaving the band, effective immediately. As the reason for her leaving, she cited her will to focus on her family life. As this happened without any prior notice, the rest of us were slightly disappointed. But what's done is done, and we're thrilled to announce the new Battle Beast vocalist with a voice and character to take the band to heights of glory." Unshine signs with Massacre Records

Finnish gothic metallers Unshine have inked a deal with Massacre Records. The band's third album, Dark Days Rising, will be released in February 2013. The artwork for the CD was created by Jan Yrlund at Darkgrove Design (Korpiklaani, Edge of Serenity, Týr, ). Songtitles set to appear on the effort include The Oath to Wilderness of Unredeemed Nature, Idyl, Defender of His Faith and Ikuinen Taistelu.

Koldbrann signs with Season of Mist

Season of Mist has announced the signing of the "true" Norwegian black metal act Koldbrann. The band's third full-length album will be released in early 2013 through Season of Mist's Underground Division. Koldbrann will debut Totalt Sjelelig Bankerott, a seven-inch single including a song from the forthcoming album (title pending) and an exclusive B-side entitled Kasjtjeijs Svøpe, on November 16. The single will also be available digitally. Koldbrann's first two albums, Nekrotisk Inkvisition and Moribund, and 2008's Stigma: På Kant Med Livet EP, will be reissued via Season of Mist.

Bloodbound to release new album

Swedish melodic metallers Bloodbound will release their fifth full-length CD, In the Name of Metal, on November 7 via AFM Records, The effort was recorded with producer Jonas Kjellgren (Scar Symmetry, Sonic Syndicate, Hypocrisy, Centinex, Carnal Forge). According to the band, "This is BY FAR the best album we've done!"

A new Enslaved song is available for streaming

Veilburner, a brand new song from Norwegian progressive extreme metallers Enslaved, can be streamed here. The track comes off the band's twelfth studio album, RIITIIR, which will be released in Europe on September 28 and in North America on October 9 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Soundgarden release final album details

Reformed Seattle grunge legends Soundgarden will release King Animal, the band's first new studio album in over 15 years, via Tom Whalley's new record label, a partnership between his Seven Four Entertainment and Republic Records, on November 13. The album's first single, Been Away Too Long, will be available via digital retailers on September 27. The band co-produced their sixth studio album with longtime Soundgarden friend and producer Adam Kasper (Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Pearl Jam) and recorded at Studio X in Seattle. King Animal was mixed by Joe Barresi (The Melvins, Queens of the Stone Age, Weezer) in Pasadena, California. A trailer for the upcoming album can be seen here.

Pathology release new video

Tyrannical Decay, the new video from San Diego death metallers Pathology, can be seen here. The song comes off the band's new album, The Time of Great Purification, which will be released on September 25 via Victory Records. The CD was recorded at Lambesis Studios with Daniel Castleman.
