My opinion: Oliver Stone is a fucking idiot and this could suck. But a story like this is pretty much fail-safe, everyone will go see it. If it's an "America pwnz" film most people will hate it, if it's a "omg arabz pwned America" film Americans will hate it.

From the description, seems like a OMG WIL THEY MAYK IT type thing. No doubt there'll be a build-up featuring stereotypical terrorists evilly cackling. And has anyone seen Nic Cage's 'tache? Outof the closet, man!

and totally off topic: somebody should make these Lovecraft stories into movies. They simply can not suck. I can imagine shitting myself at "Shadow Over Innsmouth". Now that's a fucking thriller in the sense of omg will he make it outta there alayv.

People will only be averse to the making of this movie because it occured in recent memory. To say it is automatically insensitive to make a film about September 11th is to say no films should be made about WWII, 'Nam, or any true event that resulted in loss of life - like Munich, for instance.

As long as the subject matter is treated with a fair degree of sensitivity (ie not a Bruckheimer movie) then I don't see the problem.

Although I don't deny the film will probably suck.

Yup. Although I haven't seen Re-Animator.

All I've seen was low budget movies. I'm talking big productions like they build the whole ancient city in "At the Mountains of Madness". That would be awesome.

I can't see them doing that, when CGI is as good as it is.
