Nah, I prefer to make my opinions on the matter public, especially as some readers I know brought it to my attention. Everything's fine in metal land, aside from the bee in my bonnet about this. I don't know what the rest of the guys think about this.

Some...British...readers? We have spies in our midst?

Personally, I'm annoyed with Eyesore for other reasons. It seems silly to get wound up over something like this, but as you said, in a position of authority and all that...

Edit: Please, no-one take this as more of the old "Ken shouldn't be a mod" shite. Just me and my tuppence.

Yeah, I know a fair few people who read the reviews and forums but don't post. they wait cunningly in the shadows for their chance to join in the general idiocy.

I'm not going to get wound up about it anyway, I've made my opinions on it clear and whether or not Ken wants to take them seriously is entirely up to him.

I vote the words George W. Bush be filtered to Pretty Little Flowers. It would make all of the Bush flaming that much more enjoyable.

Anyways, Kerry lost because he was a moron who couldn't make up his mind on anything. Had he had some guns and stuck to them, he would have fared a lot better. Plus he said he supported the war as well, which is not what us Bush-opposers wanted to hear.

I just know this will become a ten-page thread once I've written this, but the reason Bush won over Kerry is that you Americans have a shitty political set-up. Plus you're all stupid. (Being fair, "were" stupid, the recent opinion polls made me smile.)

Still, what with our two main parties now becoming ever more centralised, the "Liberals" being run by a fucking OAP, and the fascists getting more and more votes, we're not far behind.

Dude, keep your political comments directed at your own shitty country. There's nothing quite like an ignorant foreigner ranting about the people and politics of another country (a country, mind you, that is 100 times better than their country).

I've been told about this from friends and I can't believe what I'm reading. Ken, you're entitled to your opinions but as you work for metalreviews your opinions are also representative of the site. As you have just tarred an entire nation with one brush you have successfully managed to piss off a fair number of English people. I have my own opinions about other countries but as I work for this site would think that expressing them in balance and moderation would be a given. Ignorant foreigner is a rather extreme turn of phrase bordering on racist and I can only urge you to show a bit more decorum.

I think you're a little out of line yourself. The word ignorant is NOT fucking racist or anywhere close to it! Sorry. I don't care if you work for the site, too, that's bullshit. Racist?

Ignorant:

1. Lacking education or knowledge.
2. Showing or arising from a lack of education or knowledge: an ignorant mistake.
3. Unaware or uninformed.

Foreigner:

1. One who is from a foreign country or place.
2. One who is from outside a particular group or community; an outsider.

Add 'em up: One who is from a foreign country or place lacking knowledge (obviously on the subject at hand, not in general).

Racist:

1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

Quote:
...your opinions are also representative of the site.

Explain again how my comments are even close to being racist comments?

And for the record, like I said, I've been to England. I lived there, I lived off base and lived by British rule and law. I have knowledge enought to compare.

EDIT: The word racist, when directed at me, gets me fired up like nothing else. Like, my head gets beet red and hot, I get so mad. I hate that word. It's my "cunt."

So, because I think the US is a better country than the UK, this was necessary? I didn't refer to the people that live there at all, unlike Zad who called Americans stupid, I spoke about the country itself.

If people had such an issue with my comments why did no one say anything to me?

Hey... I did just that! I asked you why the US was better a page or so back...

Actually though, I don't really care. Anglo-American flamewars r gay.

I thought I answered that? Either way it's an opinion, not a big deal, but at least my opinion is based on personal knowledge, not political rhetoric.

And mine is? I've lived in the US along with five other countries.

I never called you a racist so please don't take it as such, I simply said that the comment 'ignorant foreigners' used in that context is verging on it. If I posted something online calling american's ignorant foreigners for having an opinion on British politics do you not think that would be slightly inflammatory? Our countries are world powers and what our leaders do has an enormous impact on the world at large, why is it wrong to have an opinion on it?

Either way, you obviously believe that the comments you made are fine so I don't see any point in me arguing, I've made my feelings clear and will just leave it at that.

But I was initially replying to Zad and making a general comment not directed at anyone in particular when I said there's nothing worse than ignorant foreigners. I'm sure you'd not like me over here spouting off a bunch of nonsense about the UK when it was clear that I didn't know what I was talking about. Sure, I think the UK is pretty shitty and I think the politics there are just as bad as in the US, but I've lived there. There are pros and cons both ways. You've lived in 5 countries so I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about.

As for my comment about ignorant foreigners, I don't think there was anything wrong with it. Ignorant is not an insulting word. Not in my book. If I'm in a black metal thread and someone calls me ignorant I'm not going to get mad because I am ignorant when it comes to black metal.

Regardless, I have no interested in arguing with anyone on politics, especially arguing with you over how a messageboard discussion is going to make the site look bad. I'd rather the reviewers be more concerned that bands/labels are sending albums to be reviewed that aren't getting reviewed. That's far worse than messageboard nonsense.
