This is the last dorm room I'll ever be in, and right now it has a big blank space on one of the walls. It needs a poster or two. I feel perfectly justified in buying anything from a regular full size poster to a giant cloth flag, but I need something metal. Right now the biggest metal poster I have is a Finntroll one that came in an issue of Metal Maniacs that I bought sort of for the sake of the poster. So, if any of you would give me links to sites that have a good selection of metal posters, I'd be much appreciative.

Wait a minute... you work for your University radio station and you can't get any metal posters??!!! Go to your music director / metal director and ask him or her to call up some labels and ask for promotional posters- you will get STACKS of posters, if he or she asks nicely, most will even be signed. Or, if your station is set up similarly to the one I worked in, there should be a big closet full of CDs, posters, and promotional junk that no-one has bothered to go through yet. Ask to go through there and raid posters from it.

I am the metal director. Or, in our parlance, Loud Music Director. We get promotional stuff all the time, but I want big ones.

Kayla: "Hello, is that Nuclear Blast Records?"

Some Dude: "Yes, it is."

Kayla: "Give me some giant signed posters bitch! I work in a radio station and if you dont i wont play your shit!"

Try that

My room isn't decorated except by 4ish paintings that I/my sister/kels did, and then a bunch of those cardboard slips that some CDs come in... I'd been saving them in a pile on my floor and got the idea to cut out the fronts and tape them to my wall. I've always thought that putting up movie or music posters is just geeky/dumb... meh.

I HATE THOSE FREAKING THINGS.

Sorry. Much hatred as a radio director. I never had posters up until I got to college, and discovered how horribly stark and institutional dorm rooms can look without anything on the walls. Now I try to cover as much of them as I possibly can.

I'm a pretty cheap bastard, so I'd still say that the best way to get posters is to call up labels and ask for them... especially since you're the "loud rock" director (my school did the same thing... WTF is up with Loud Rock?). I don't know which bands you're looking for, but Century Media / Nuclear Blast always hooked me up with huge posters, as did RoadRunner (A Type-O Negative poster ALWAYS adds panache to a room!) if you can get on Jen's good side.

If you don't want to go that route... there used to be a good shop in Springfield, MA (prolly a 45 min. drive for you, though) called Red Rocket Records. It was run by Ogre, one of the owners of Fat Cats (a fairly good live-music venue / bar, also in Springfield). It had a really good Metal selection, and should have a decent assortment of posters as well... plus Ogre will order anything you want. Check and make sure it's still there, though, as the last time I went was almost six years ago.

Those are excellent suggestions. I talk to Jen fairly regularly, so I'm sure I can get her to send me something (actually, I'm hoping to get hooked up with tickets for GWAR in October). Springfield is only 25 minutes from me, and I'm over there all the time anyway.

EDIT: According to the internets, Red Rocket seems to be extant.

I hereby suggest Kayla's intarnets forum title be changed to The Metal Director. :)

And you all thought I was going to pick up on the lazy double entendre, didn't you? :P
