Just wanted to post this because I thought it was really interesting and kind of depressing. It's a post about the importance of looks in Korean culture. This is what happens when men start competing in the same arena as women, it's a fucking nightmare.

It seems rather systemic to the younger generations of wealthy countries worldwide, but everything I've heard (no expert...) is that such behavior is particularly acute in East Asia. Scary article indeed. Now, a bitter, depraved dinosaur of a man might go on a long-winded rant now about the increasing hollowness of our tech-addled society, but I'm too tired for that.

Instead, about looks: they don't matter much, and they matter less and less as a person grows secure enough about themselves to realize this more and more.

I would get so much twat in Korea... Right, I know where I'm going if I'm ever at a loss. 198cm, and I'm constantly told I should do modeling work over here. I wouldn't get through Seoul airport security without 10 marriage proposals.

I wish non-asians here dressed this well :-(

Although I do think there's a point where caring about looks gets weird. Like, wearing cool clothes is fun, but plastic surgery and certain uses of make up is not. I'm not exactly sure where the line is though. And I like learning about stuff the relationship between attractiveness and head/body ratios (or breast/hip ratios, etc).

Also why is stuff like this a nightmare when men do it, but not when women do it? Seems like a double standard.

I actually think what women go through is a nightmare. I am so glad that I am a man and don't have to go through the shit that they go through.

It is a double standard for some people, sure, but I don't that applies here. I'm one of the least likely people to perpetuate these sorts of societal pressures on women, so the male stuff annoys me too.
