Bunch of idiots. The fact that Bond's been running for twenty films means nothing? I'm more concerned about whether playing Bond will ruin Daniel Craig's career, he's a much better actor than Pierce Brosnan in my view. And according to the original books doesn't Bond edge on the psychotic?

What do people think?

I agree with your assessment Z. After seeing Layer Cake, I am convinced that Craig can handle the role.

Fanboys like these who bitch about casting are the lowest forms of life on this planet, just below fans of the band Trapt. 8)

The bond films are gay. They're gay gay gay.

"It's a British institution," the tabloids say. "Boys own stuff"

Piss right off. They're tacky films that lately have gone beyond hinging on smutty double entendres to the extent that they need to contrive the script to unbelievable depths of idiocy to include them.

If they want to make a gritty one I'll think about watching, if not, no chance. Aren't the Timothy Dalton ones actually meant to be quite good? The fact that these sort of fanboys hate them leads me to believe they'd be not bad.

I haven't seen any for years. I'd watch this one purely because, as I said, I like Daniel Craig as an actor. I think Licence To Kill is a 15, probably the most over-rated series of films made since Star Wars.

Even though they began before Star Wars, right?

"Since" in my estimation, not chronologically. Do you see?

Once again, being pedantic saves the day.

The last Bond films are like a non-stop high profile commercial, very tiring to watch.

Truth. Don't know why I like them, really. Or even if I do...

Octopussy was great iirc. The latest ones are like looooong car commercials. And speaking of which, wtf were they thinking when they came up with the invisible car? Stupid. I did like that sword fight. Pity Bond didn't take off Madonna's harpy-like head when he had the chance.

The only really great Bond film Brosnan ever starred in was Goldeneye. Tomorrow Never Dies was decent, but the villain seemed awfully weak (and distant from other Bond villains). The World Is Not Enough, aside from the admittedly well-characterized Elektra, was fairly weak. And I'm not even going to get into Die Another Day (which IMO had possibly the dumbest opening ever in a Bond movie).

And come on, there have been at least five different James Bonds. Why make such a fuss over another new one?

I dont know anything about the new Bond guy but if the new Bond movie is anything like the recent movies I will save my money and time thank you very much. I think the series is old and out of ideas and needs to be put out of its misery before it completely destroys its reputation.

I don't disagree with them, he sucks for the part. I haven't seen a large number of his films but considering one of them was the fucking Tomb Raider movie, and another was him sexing some nasty old woman, I don't think ANYTHING could run his career, much less this.

Alot of these guys have to take what they can get man. Shit, Goerge Clooney once did voices for Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. I wouldn't rip him no matter how insanely bad the Tomb Raider movies were. (I've seen them both) Layer Cake was indeed quite entertaining. I liked it almost as much as Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Except in all of these British crime type movies I have no idea what the fuck people are saying half the time (Englishmen seem to have a fetish for slang), but it's still fun to watch. :)

And yes the last few James Bond movies have been incredibly awful. In that last one I think he had to outrun a LASER BEAM FROM OUTERSPACE on a snow mobile thingy. (wtf) At least the old ones were endearing. Of course I will probably go see it anyway, just because. Anyone see the trailer for the next Mission Impossible by the way? (Here comes some "Tom Cruise is SOoo gay type comment.)
