This thread needs to be revived. Currently enjoying a Smithwick's.

Agreed with the general love of Guinness.

Shiner out of Texas makes some good ones. Shiner Bock is one of my favorites.

So I drank a Chinese beer the other day, although I can't recall the name. Nothing too heavy and it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be.

hehe... I generally drink blue collar beers like Bud and PBR when I do. But they have to be ice cold, half a degree from freezing.
I prefer either a decent Scotch or Vodka Martini after the daily ruck and din. And after driving home for nearly an hour in bumper to bumper traffic, once all the days business is settled, I can sure use it. Since I started commuting to work, I've come to fully understand road rage.

I'd rather have Vodka. It's cheaper and can taste like anything. It improves the taste of some drinks. Gets you drunk fast and there is tons for the money. Beer is kind of like drinking a plant with little sweetener. It was a very cheap way to make alcohol and all in the past, but times have changed. There's some good beer out there, but too much poor quality bullshit to make the whole thing worth it. I've easily only enjoyed 20% of the beers I've tried.

Been drinking Fat Tire recently. Decent shit and I don't want to drink too much of it like I would with something cheaper like Miller. Millers I can chug all day.

My guitarist who downs a 12 pack every night keeps Millers stocked like it's his job though.

Been drinking Guinness a lot lately. A few PBRs when I'm feeling cheap.

Wine gives me headaches. And I drink martinis on martini night in order to fit in.

Every night's martini night.
A timeless no bullshit drink that gets the job done.

On the subject of non-beer booze, I've fallen in love with a wee drink called Buckfast. Tonic wine at 15 percent, with more caffeine in a bottle than 5 cans of redbull. One bottle of that, and you're unstoppable.

It's no bullshit as long as you're not getting an appletini.

My wife drinks those.
A martini is: vodka, a miniscule splash of vermouth and an olive or two. Shaken, of course.

Funny thing is, my initial experience with the martini was with the gin variation, and it was absolutely horrible, it tasted like liquid concentrated evil. Coupla years later some dude offered me a vodka martini, and I've been a fan ever since.
Had me one last night, in fact, and I'll certainly have one or two after the little ones have had their ration of candy and are safely tucked away to bed tonight.
