Benfica lost vs RCD Espanyol 3-2, not bad considering we were down 3-0 (we scored 2 goals in 2 minutes). i think we can win the round, all we need is a 1-0 win in Lisbon.

the problem with Benfica is that the team is so irregular, they can have a great performance one week and completely fuck up the next.

AZ and Werder Bremen tied and Sevilla and Osasuna won their respective matches.

btw, Sporting Lisbon played AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Cup semi-final in 2005, i remember that game well. Miguel Garcia scored in the last minute to send Sporting through to the final. i was watching the game in a restaurant very popular with Sporting fans, and there was a fucking riot!! after Garcia's goal, the fans almost tore the restaurant apart. you couldn't walk without stepping on glass and there was blood on the counters

I remeber every minute of that game. Sporting scored the last goal out of a corner. While the match time was already over the 2 extra minutes. I was watching at home and I couldn't bare to see that corner taken, then I heard the commentator........2-3

Maybe we will got our change this year.

AZ played a very decent game agains Bremen. Dembele should play with our national team like he does with AZ. Oh and irony, you cruel bitch! Timmy Simons(PSV) blunders and Daniel Van Buyten(Bayern München) scores 2 goals

i don't know about the manager's opinion, but all the fans i know really want him back. problem is i don't think he wants to leave the Premiership to come back to Portugal..

12million € is a hefty sum but i think he's worth the investment.. it's up to Everton now. Fernandes is willing to stay and Benfica is willing to sell at that price.

fucking Benfica pretty much lost their chance at the portuguese title today, drawing 2-2 against last-placed Beira-Mar. with 6 games to go FC Porto has a 3 point lead and an easier calendar than Benfica.

Simão Sabrosa had to fake a fucking penalty for us to TIE against the last-placed team. it's the 2nd year straight, Benfica has a clear shot at the title AND FUCKS IT ALL UP.

bah.

AZ had a great weekend, they won 1-4 and the other teams in the top 5 lost or didn't win. Just 2 points difference between psv and 3 games left.

haha, 7-1 great game, Man United at their best form. if they keep playing like that they'll keep their 3point lead on chelsea and win the champions league.

That second goal of Carricker= da bomb

When i had a season ticket for Everton i saw us beat southhampton 7-1, thought that was the best team preformance i'd ever see but united just took the piss last night. Counter attacking football at its best, was a previlage to watch. Uniteds third was the best for me, closed the ball down straight from the kick off then from the edge of their own box just ripped roma apart and ended up with a tap in, just 90 seconds after their smiths goal. Unbelievable!

Benfica tied 0-0 vs Sporting Braga (not to be confused with our rivals Sporting Lisbon), and our title hopes are pretty much 0 right now :(

with 5 games to go (i think), benfica is 5 points behind leaders FC Porto, who are unlikely to fuck up and this most crucial moment. i mean, it can happen, but i'm not holding my breath. even Rui Costa admitted after the match today that he didn't think we could still reach the title.

whenever the time comes for Benfica to prove they can be champions, they fuck up horribly. it defies all logic. no matter how motivated, now matter how well they did in the previous match, Benfica always fucks up when the time comes.

the problem this year was bad team management. we have 11-12 good players, and it's hard to replace one of them without a noticeable drop in performance. so yeah, most players are half-dead by this point in the season.

so, i guess there's more next year, eh?

crap.. missed the Barcelona match against Getafe.. appearantly Messi scored one of the best goals in the club's history. He dribbled from own half and outmatched 4 players from Getafe and then he scored.
I would really like to see that goal

just because i'm a really nice guy:

Messi's goal Astaroth was talking about

it's kinda like Maradona's when Argentina played England in World Cup '86 (the "super awesome incredible dribbles past like 20 english players" goal, not the hand of god :P).

thanks alot, dude... unfortunately i was not allowed to watch the video. And when i went to youtube most of the videos was unavaible because they didn't have the rights to show the clip..

however, just found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_roXv_Y7rM ... those who want to watch should probably be quick.

but it's a cool goal. No wonder they compare his potential to Maradona all the time. They did already last year. It will be interesting to see how he will evolve his talent from here. In a few years he'll prolly be the biggest name/attraction in Barcelona, he's already close, i think, not necessarily because of his ability alone, but his young age also.

now it'd be awesome if Messi pulled a "Hand of God" in Barcelona's next game!
