Thing with rafa is when he rotates he'll change the entier back 4. Thats just plain stupid. Sir Alex will only ever change his back4 when his hand is forced. Means that defencively you'll always have consistancy, helps the whole team out. Plus united have better back up to their quality players, nani was so good on saturday no one rly noticed or cared that the best player in the world atm (well imo) wasn't on the pitch. Also when united rotate they tend to play the same system with the 5 forward player just attacking anyway they see fit. But they got caught out earlier in the season rotating, losing 2 nil at home to coventry made em look a little silly for resting so many.

Finally......

Liverpool 2 Inter Milan 0 !

A game I didn't regret waking up at 3am to catch. Wasn't the best performance by either side but the result is a huge relief for me. Materazzi's sending off was crucial for Liverpool. I don't think he deserved the the first yellow, but hey, refs do make mistakes. But it's clear indication that the Reds need to seriously brush up on their finishing. They did pretty well in attack, just the kill was very blunt.

Inter were playing pretty dangerously in the first half with all the tackles and fouls, and they were punished with 2 yellows in a matter of minutes. If another Inter player were to be sent off, they would have been seriously fucked. Liverpool took the upper hand since the sending off by tiring the Inter players. Looks like the next leg would be quite hard for Inter with Materazzi suspended and Cordova seriously injured. I hope he gets back soon. I felt sorry for him.

Did you guys see Zanetti's expression after the whistle blew? Gerrard wanted to exchange shirts and he looked pretty fed up and uninspired. I hope Inter don't give up. They really lacked steam at Anfield. I hope the return leg at San Siro is a more interesting one.

The two yellow cards are not mistakes, they are two fucking free yellow cards. The ref decided the match, you cannot make such mistakes in champions league for god's sake.

Well most teams would play a little defensively when they're away, but being in the knockout stages of the Champions League, I think the best is to play defensively at home, and aggressively away. The away goals help a lot.

Inter had very few chances that night, but they were good. If only they had pushed harder they would have got the away goal they wanted.

Well
Lyon 1 Man Utd 1
Arsenal 0 AC 0
Olympiakos 0 Chelsea

So basically Liverpool was the best English team this week and the only one with a big advantage over the opponent. But out of the 4 English teams playing, Arsenal is the one who's not in a good position. They've lost Toure to a 3 week injury, and they play AC at San Siro. It's near impossible for an English team to win in Italy, what more AC. Chelsea have a draw but the return is in Stamford Bridge, which I guess everyone knows what the results would be. United play the next game home with an away goal in hand. It's going their way, alright.

i agree with you. Chelsea and Man U should make it through, Liverpool have a hard job ahead of them (although Inter's defense is in shambles after this - Materazzi suspended, Ivan Cordoba injured and Walter Samuel still out).

Arsenal are fucked. i didn't watch the match, and apparently 0-0 was the fairest result, but at San Siro Milan will be unforgiving. their experience has alays come through, the one time they got screwed they learned their lesson (their first final with Liverpool).

dunno, i kinda like Milan, but yeah Arsenal play the coolest football in Europe right now. it's just that i don't see them passing the test at San Siro.. but then again i didn't see them doing the same at the Delle Alpi against Juventus and they did!

anyway, Benfica!

THERE IS SO MUCH WRONG WITH THE CLUB, IT'S NOT EVEN FUCKING FUNNY!

there's this right-back, Luís Filipe, right... i swear, i swear we've all played weekend football games with people with more talent than the guy. the fact that he's a regular on Benfica starting XI is an insult to every failed amateur player, for each and every one of them is more talented than Luís Filipe. he truly is one of the very shittiest players to wear our shirt in the last few years, and trust me, we've had some real stinkers.

then there's Makukula. he's strong as fuck, a decent striker, but only good for middle of the table clubs, yet Benfica paid €5 million for him this christmas, and he blows. zero technique, zero shooting, zero everything but strength, all this while the €9 million Oscar Cardozo who's already proved he's a good player sits on the bench.

in the end there's the coach, Camacho, who in his first spell at Benfica did a great fucking job and now, 3 or 4 years later, seems a changed man. the old Camacho would've torn players like Luís Filipe a new asshole, this guy who looks like him practically encourages them to further drag the red shirt through the mud.

we were losing against Nuremberg (16th in the Bundesliga) 2-0, and tied 2-2 with 2 90th minute goals, so we're through. frankly i'd rather have the slight embarassment of losing out against Nuremberg now than to...
HAVE OUR ASSES KICKED 4 OR 5-0 BY GETAFE IN THE NEXT ROUND!

seriously, for the first time in my life i'm ashamed of my club. they're a fucking joke.

I hate Arsenal so bad, and I believe that Manchester United can play just as attractive football as Arsenal when at top notch..

the whole Kevin Keegan thing turned out to be one hell of a flop!

on Eduardo: i saw the replay on tv today, and it didn't seem intentional, it was a clumsy tackle made worse when Eduardo flicked the ball away at the last moment.

Yes it was pretty clumsy, and not intentional at all. It seems that Taylor is devastated too. And Wenger should take a look at his own players too, it was a lot of ugly tackles in the unitedmatch last weekend.

i didn't see the previous Arsenal match, but yeah apparently several players tried to kill Nani.

as for Wenger's words, he issued a statement saying that what he said about Taylor being banned from football were hot headed words said in the heat of the moment, and he took it back.

And Eboue tried to puncture Evra's lung.
