I didn't mean that you got lucky, though it may seem like that in my above post. I wanted Edmonton to get lucky against the habs though.

it was the "wanted Edmonton to get lucky as well" comment that made it look like you said the Leafs were lucky. The 'as well' part threw me off.

I really hope the league does something about this. Instigator penalty is silly since I'd rather see dudes fighting than almost getting crippled. Srsly look at this karate move on Crosby by Downie -_-

So the Leafs have lost 3 games in regulation since the olympic break, 4 losses in total. I know the Leafs usually surge during the stretch when the pressure of the playoffs are over, but I can't help but feel different about this year. Years past we'd go on this run with guys like Mats Sundin, Darcy Tucker, Pavel Kubina, Hal Gill, Bryan McCabe, and the likes.. But now it's different. Tyler Bozak is looking like an absolute steal by Brian Burke. The kid can play, he's good both with and without the puck. Getting both pp and pk minutes. Plus goddamn, Phil Kessel must have one of the best releases in the league. That goal he scored on Brian Elliot on Tuesday, unbelievable. But, because it's the Leafs the haters are going to hate. Whatever, there is optimism in Leaf Land for the first time since the lockout.

theres probably optimism in bruin land too. do you know if they've started making their taylor hall jerseys yet?

all jokes aside i liked the kessel trade and think kessel will have a better career than taylor hall or whomever the bruins get next year. i also like burke being agressive going after guys in the college and european free agent markets as well as young high profile players in the nhl (dion phaneuf). there s slim hope in leaf land for next season. strong trading and being agressive in free agency as well as some good goaltending and the leafs can be a playoff team. seriously we need someone who isnt kessel to score a few goals and make it so the other teams best checkers and defenders arent on kessels back all night

and the Leafs win again...

This time beating the 1st place New Jersey Devils. But since we won and the Penguins won, the Devils are no longer 1st. Too bad.

Watch out Canes, Leafers only 4 points behind you..

Oh yeah that turd Kessel scored again, 27 goals and 50 points in 57 games. Such a horrid horrid trade, I bet the Bruins wish they had a 30+ goal scorer who was only 22 years old right now. Seeing as how they got shut-out again.

Well, if we are going to go there...

Tuukka Rask for Andrew Raycroft.

I'm pretty sure Edmonton is getting the first overall pick, and if the Leafs keep winnig like we are we will pull out of the top 5. Carolina, Columbus, Islanders, and a couple other teams are all catchable.

I know the Rask for Raycroft trade was brutal, all Leaf fans know this. I always find it funny that fans make fun of fans for something the team did. Yes because I made the Kessel or the Rask trade. I defend the Kessel trade because at 22 years of age he's scored 27 goals aand 50 points in less than 60 games where the Bruins are strugglig to score. A lot of people said that Kessel won't do shit without Savard, well I think that Savard needs Kessel. Savard has what 30 something points? I know he's been hurt a lot, but he is struggling when healthy.

Anyway, Kessel trade I like the Rask trade was brutal.

Rant over.

Savard needs to be healthy, and the team needs consistency from a number of people lacking this year.

It's been a bad year for the Bruins, (the Thomas contract was idiotic!), and they've played a couple awful games in a row putting them on the brink of missing the playoffs. The Kessel trade looks really bad for Boston now, I am not sure if it will remain that way. I have nothing against the Leafs, or even Montreal...

Pittsburgh and Philly are different stories.

Nothing wrong with the trade except the timing of it. That's my belief and I'm sticking by it ;)

Burkey and most Leaf fans didn't think we'd be a bottom 3 team when the trade went down. Signing Komisarek and Beauchemin plus the emergence of Gunnarsson, a healthy Toskala, and the goal scoring skills of Kessel all pointed to a better Leafs team. I didn't think playoff contenders, but definitely not bottom 3.

JAMIE McBAIN baby! 4 points in his first 3 NHL-games. Wins it in overtime against the Pens. Got one HELL of a slapper.

Look, every team would have signed Thomas to that much after two great seasons, including a Vezina season. Just hope he's having a bad year and that he'll be be back in shape next year (and it's not like he's been awful or anything- could be better, but .914 isn't bad), and be happy you have Rask.

And a Kessel trade had to happen, and will pay off. Kessel wasn't getting along with Julien and other members of a team, and that will just destroy any team. Now you guys get two first round draft picks for two years, and whether you get Taylor Hall or not, you're probably getting at least one good one this year. That's going to make you a dangerous team for the future.

And you also have to keep in mind how the NHL works. Sometimes the most succesful teams are just the healthy ones- the Bruins haven't been healthy this year and they suffer for it. And last year, the Bruins weren't winning tons of games by three goals- there were a lot of one goal wins, with Tim Thomas playing fantastically and the Bruins just getting by. The law of averages usually dictates that eventually those one goal games will start going against you, and this year they have. But all in all, I think the Bruins should be pretty happy with their future.

Montreal-Toronto tonight! Both teams have been playing great recently, so I'm hoping for an exciting game (with Montreal winning, obviously). Still, I want Toronto to get as many points as possible, so hopefully it'll be an OT win. Go Habs go!

Leafs win in regulation.

Even during the lowest of the lows in Leaf land, we dominate Saturday night games.
