Leafs are tearing it up right now. The Kings have been shit since the Olympics. Luckily Calgary is even shittier so L.A. is all but assured of a playoff spot, however limping into the playoffs for a quick 1st round exit would be depressing after the great season they've had.
Leafs are tied for 3rd with 9 wins since the olympics. Only Detroit and Phoenix have more, with 11 and 10 wins respectively.
They have played very well. I like their team for next year and wouldn't be surprised to see them make the playoffs. Grabovski and Kulemin are poised to break out, Gustavsson will improve, and Kessel
just keeps scoring goals.
I agree with you on most parts, but I don't think we make the playoffs and I don't think Grabo will get any better. He has peaked, I like his speed and creativity but he's just not built to be a top 6 guy. The main reason why he is still here is because we are so thin up front. I'd rather have Kadri up there or sign a Matthew Lombardi, but I certainly give Grabo credit because he gets hit hard and he gets hit hard a lot and he always gets right back up. He reminds of Sergei Berezin but can't score like him.
Dating myself a bit here..
I really think your team will be within 5 points or less of the 8th spot with a week left in the season next year. Teams like Montreal, New York, Philly, Carolina (ok, they might be good) and so forth are all mediocre; and at least one of Buffalo and Ottawa will slip. With so much mediocrity, I just see Toronto hanging around to the end.
You watch Toronto a heck of lot more than I do, so I'll defer to your opinion on Grabovski, I just thought he was hurt this year, plus he's been really snakebitten, with a shooting percentage declining by half from last year. Then again, perhaps he is just a solid third-liner. And what are they going to do about Kaberle?
