Go go female fanbased fantasy.

And I'm going to read Half blood prince again before the new book comes out.

You're going to read it in one day?

Just read Order in one day (too bad I lent out HBP a while ago or I'd have read that)- if there's one thing Potter books are, they're very easy to read.

i'm buying it today with my cousin (we'll share a book), i can't wait!

in England there were stores selling it for 6-8£!! but i'm not sure if it's a permanent price or if it was just for those who bought it at midnight.

Just tell me one thing, new HP book readers - is it much better than the previous one?

Nope... starts off very well, but after the halfway mark starts to completely fall apart and then crashes at the end.

I suppose it's a bit like expecting a chainsaw decapitation in a Hilary Duff film, expecting anything approaching excitement in Harry Potter.

Bought Bill Hicks - Love All The People on my ealier Borders trip, so might read that soon, might go with Revelation Space, by Alastiar Reynolds. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Revelation-Spac ... 317&sr=8-2 I can't believe none of you lot's looked into him further.

By the way, could everyone inform us when they've finished so we can all discuss the plot? Thanks.

good book, possibly my favorite of the 7, and congrats to Rowling for the plot!

i'll only receive the book on august 5th, my aunt is visiting from England, where she bought it for £7 or something. yes i'm a cheap bastard.
can i ask you to discuss the plot in small font? i'd be much obliged :)
and what about those trolls who run around message boards posting spoilers? FFS that's not funny, pieces of shit.

EDIT - i ordered A Clash of Kings over a month ago, and still hasn't arrived. my (other) aunt went to the USA, bought Storm of Swords and returned before the store could deliver the 2nd ASOIAF!!!

well if you want to:

the plot is basically an 'epic' battle, and it reveals answers to questions inever even asked myself. However, it never really seems far fetched(as far as that's possible for a book about magic). I really liked that the plot teaches that some people were not like they seemed to 99% of the readers. I'm not a huge HP fan but i really recommend this book, it's truly a fine end to a fine serie.

It has that annoying HP trademark of having a 50-page coda after the story's climax though.

Read the last HP yesterday...I'm pretty much in Fingon's camp, thought it was a very good end to a very good series. HP's strength has always the characters, not the action, and the same holds true in this book. The "secrets" revealed about certain characters really intrigued me...I must be the only one that thought the ending was decent, at least. Not anything that I would actually have been able to guess. Again, I thought it was a really good conclusion to the series...

SPOILERS THAT ARE MAJOR BELOW THIS POINT:

Nothing far fetched? I take it you didn't read any of the parts about the deathly hallows (in particular the wand and its convoluted changing over ownership), or the deus ex machina that allowed Harry to return to life?

psshhh, i agree that the hallows things was somewhat..bizar in the beginning, but the book is about wizards and witches and shit like that, what did you expect? the whole harry going lazarus was not that far fetched, i think it was a little jab towards all the people who said they'd both die in the end.
