Switzerland x Portugal - bad game. Portugal's B side dominated the first half and had a goal wrongly disallowed, plus the referee blatantly ignored two penalties over Nani.
we were crap in the second half, though, aside from Nani's shot on post. the only reserves who impressed me were Nani and Hélder Postiga (although i can't imagine him facing a tougher defense, as will be the case from now on). Miguel Veloso was crap, and Ricardo makes me nervous every time the ball comes near him.

Turkey x Czech Republic - what can i say? well done Turkey. that makes two hard-fought turn-arounds for Turkey, showing some real grit. some luck on the second goal (poor Cech), but great finishing in the third. i hope Portugal and Turkey meet again in the semi-finals.

Well the game never really affected Portugal in a negative way, Az, so why all the fuss? Anyway, the win was too late for the Swiss.

I feel pity for Koller. He did a hell of a game, his last game with Czech republic. But he was the only one that played. The rest of Czech play like crap, including the best goalkeeper in the world, that make an amateur mistake.
I don't like the play of Turkey too, they wait playing very bad until their opponent is tired, and in a quarter try to resolve all the match (the velocity of Nihat is the key). But that's playing with fire.

i'm not pissed that we lost, i'm pissed that our bench can't be trusted, save for players like Nani. also our 1st keeper, Ricardo, is shit and is only good for penalties. i refuse to comment on the other two

I'm not saying it because I'm Turkish but last night's game was one of the best comebacks I've seen in this level of football. Besides, Cech might have made a mistake but the referee didn't let us do the substitution for like 5 minutes and that's the reason we conceded the second goal. And we played without a goalie for the last couple of minutes, came back from 2-0 to win it 2-3! Fucking awesome!

I'm not proud of the football we played in this tournament so far but we are showing glimpses of awesomeness which has been enough to take us to the quarters. I'm proud of our perseverance, dedication and bravery, which might take us even further. We are the only team so far that fell behind in a game and came back to win it, TWICE!

It's quite clear that you guys depend on your first 11 badly. Have a few of them injured, and you guys might be facing difficulties.



Turkish delights!!! They played really well. I'm marking them as one of the dark horses. I'm sure they will spring surprises against bigger teams as well.

i have to confess i loved Domenech whining about The Netherlands losing on purpose to Romania - WHAT IF THEY DID?! Holland earned the right to do whatever the fuck they wanted in their last match by defeating both world cup finalists. what did France do? it's their own fault they had to count on both themselves and the netherlands to go through. fuck france and above all fuck domenech. france and greece, that's two teams i hate out right in the first phase. good riddance.

Holland is going to destroy us all. Take cover...

Italy won! France is out and I'm glad they did. They're just another England, still riding on the fame of WC '98 and Euro '00 although they've won shit after that. Seriously an overrated team.

I was hoping Norway made it to the Finals (being a fan of Riise, Carew, and Pedersen). Would have made Euronymous proud.

Riise used to be good, or OK at least. But last season was really terrible. I least expected him to make all those mistakes. At the rate he was going, I wanted him out. He was becoming a liability as time passed by. And this is the guy who was rock solid in defence and made Barthez piss in his pants with that rocket of a shot back in November 2001.

France have a solid team on paper, but yes they aren't the same team that destroyed all opposition in 98 and 2000 (zidane, henry, barthez, deschamps, desailly, trezeguet, pires, thuram.. bloody hell!).

And yes, they are playing great. But we haven´t won the tournament yet. I think Holland, Portugal or Spain will win this tournament.

I'll keep Russia as a dark horse.

Clive Tyldesley is always alternating between either hyperbole, romanticisation, or faux-mateyness. David Pleat keeps calling Bosingwa Boswinga (this isn't right, is it Az?!) and what is most annoying of all...

...two people now (David Moyes and David Pleat) have referred to the Czech Republic as Czechoslovakia. Why not just refer to Russia as the Soviets and be done with it...

Goddamn it Portugal vs Germany was like the battle between the darwes and the giants. Also Ricardo is probably one of the shittiest goalkeepers ive seen in this tournament, AZ was right.
My condolances though, i supported Portugal all the way!
